Your personalized planner for healthy teeth, Seokplant, explains how to care for your implant.

- Bleeding
It is normal for a small amount of blood to mix with your saliva. If bleeding is heavy enough to pool in your mouth, bite down on the gauze provided by the dental clinic over the surgical area, and it will stop soon.

- Pain
Even after the anesthesia wears off, the pain should not be severe. If you do feel pain, taking the pain reliever as directed will help ease it. Applying a cold compress is also very helpful.

- Swelling
Some swelling after surgery is normal. However, severe swelling can cause pain and inflammation, so please use cold compresses and follow the dentist’s instructions carefully.

- Precautions
-
Do not brush the surgical area for 24 hours after the procedure; use mouthwash instead. (You may brush areas other than the surgical site.)
-
For the first 2 days, apply an ice pack to the surgical area for about 20 minutes, then rest for 10 minutes, and repeat.
-
If you have nosebleeds, do not blow your nose forcefully for 3 days.
-
For 2 to 3 days after the procedure, avoid hot baths, steaming, strenuous exercise, and getting a perm at a hair salon.
-
Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol for 2 weeks after surgery.
