Implant dental procedures are not a perfect solution in every situation. Many people expect that once they receive implants, their teeth will always stay healthy, but in reality, that is not the case.

If implants are not properly cared for, problems such as peri-implant inflammation may occur, and you may need to visit the dentist again or even undergo a repeat procedure. Therefore, proper care is essential even after the procedure.
Post-implant care can be divided into care on the day of the procedure and overall dental care after the procedure. On the day of the procedure, it is recommended not to eat for 2 hours, and especially to avoid hot food.

Bleeding may occur after surgery, and this is a natural phenomenon. However, do not spit out the blood; swallow it instead. Also, slight swelling may occur after surgery, and applying ice can reduce the swelling in a short period of time.

For 2 to 3 days after surgery, it is best to avoid hot baths, strenuous exercise, smoking, and drinking alcohol. In particular, if you have had a sinus implant procedure, be careful not to blow your nose forcefully.

For overall dental care, thorough brushing is important. Brush your teeth three times a day, but brushing with too much force is not recommended. The brushing direction should be from top to bottom for the upper teeth and from bottom to top for the lower teeth. In addition, using interdental brushes allows for even more thorough brushing.

You should also visit the clinic regularly after implant treatment. Visit the dentist once or twice a year to check the condition of the implants and receive any necessary treatment. This helps maintain not only the implants but also the health of your natural teeth.

Implant treatment can provide a high level of satisfaction in terms of chewing ability and aesthetics. However, if it is not properly managed after the procedure, there is a possibility of needing another surgery, so careful post-procedure care is necessary.
