Incision site for lower eyelid surgery and the procedure and recovery process for under-eye fat repositioning
-
Make an incision directly below the eyelashes. The incision is made along the line about 2b73 mm below the lower eyelashes.
-
Access is secured through the incision. Through subcutaneous dissection, the under-eye fat is repositioned and the orbital septum is reinforced.
-
Preserve the cheek muscle. To create a cheek fullness appearance, it is essential to leave enough skin when excising skin.
-
Close the incision site with sutures.
Importance of Preserving Cheek Fullness
When performing under-eye fat repositioning, we make it a rule to preserve the cheek muscle. Cheek fullness is not newly created; it uses the patient's own cheek muscle.
If the incision line is lowered for convenience during surgery and all of the cheek muscle is removed, the result may look unnatural and flat.
We preserve the patient's own cheek fullness.
One of the important factors in creating cheek fullness is having enough skin. If there is not enough skin, surgery may be difficult and the effect may be limited.

Sutures are removed 7 days after surgery. After suture removal, the major swelling goes down, and the remaining swelling gradually improves over the course of one month.
The speed of recovery from swelling or bruising varies from patient to patient. Cold compresses are better when done frequently. Cold compresses help reduce heat and are effective for swelling.
After cold compresses, warm compresses help circulation and support recovery.
Precautions After Surgery
As with all surgeries, following postoperative precautions carefully helps support stable recovery.
Many patients think that recovery is complete after the sutures are removed, but in reality, the surgical area may still feel tight and is still working hard to heal.
For example, just as you would be careful about washing a small cut on your hand, avoid using it as much as possible and cover it with waterproof tape, the same applies to the surgical area. In particular, the eyes require special care because tears and other factors can cause irritation, and rubbing the eyes or dust can lead to inflammation.
After suture removal, take special care to prevent the wound from opening and avoid applying force to the eyes or irritating them.
Makeup products can cause pigment deposition or inflammation in the surgical area, so it is best to avoid them for at least 3 weeks until the wound has fully healed.
Bending your head down to wash your hair or lifting heavy objects can increase intraocular pressure.
An increase in intraocular pressure can lead to secondary bleeding, so extra caution is necessary.
After surgery, you may resume taking all medications that were stopped for the procedure.
Eating very salty foods is not good for swelling.
Sports that require sudden, forceful movements, such as golf, should be avoided for 2 to 3 months.
