What causes drooping eyelids? As we age, our skin gradually begins to sag. Not only the eyelid skin, but also the forehead skin sags and stretches, causing the position of the eyebrows to drop downward.

There are two major causes of drooping eyelids. One is sagging of the eyelids themselves, and another is the forehead stretching and sagging. When eyelid sagging is severe, all of the sagging eyelid skin cannot be removed. If too much is removed out of excess ambition, the distance between the eyebrow and the eye becomes too narrow, as shown in the photo below, which is not aesthetically pleasing. The distance between the eyebrow and the eye should be sufficiently maintained to look natural.

We often lift our eyebrows with our fingers when it feels hard to open our eyes and use that to secure our field of vision.

The supra-brow lift design involves making an incision along the line above the eyebrow, with the incision made within the eyebrow line.

Unlike infra-brow lift surgery, the entire eyebrow line can be incised. Therefore, it has an excellent lifting effect in that it can improve the appearance of the line looking pressed down during upper blepharoplasty.

Infra-brow lift

Infra-brow lift surgery is generally well known as the representative brow lift procedure.

It is a surgical method in which an incision is made just below the eyebrow, the sagging eyelid skin is removed, and then it is pulled downward and fixed below the eyebrow. It is a procedure that has been performed frequently in recent years. Because it causes less swelling, recovery is fast, and it is an excellent procedure in that it is relatively simple.

The surgical design of the infra-brow lift involves making an incision along the line below the eyebrow. Because the incision must be made within the eyebrow line, it is possible to remove the central part of the eyelid, but it is difficult to remove the front or back part of the eyebrow according to the horizontal skin texture centered on the middle of the eyebrow. In particular, if sagging of the back part of the eyelid is severe, there are limitations to how much can be removed. Therefore, a disadvantage is that areas outside the eyebrow are difficult to excise.

Recovery period and cost of brow lift surgery

Sutures are removed 7 days after surgery.

Even immediately after surgery, swelling and bruising are relatively minimal, and daily life can resume right away.

It usually becomes natural and stable within about 1 month.

Depending on the patient's skin condition, the degree of scarring after surgery may vary, but eyebrow makeup is possible starting 3 weeks after surgery.
