Many people think of a brow lift simply as a “surgery to raise the eyebrows.”
But in reality, there are many cases where a brow lift is needed because the eyelids feel heavy,
or because of a compensatory habit of keeping the eyes open by using forehead strength.
In particular, among patients who feel that the upper eyelids are heavy,
a large number unconsciously use the forehead muscles to open their eyes.

If this compensatory pattern continues for a long time, forehead tension, fatigue, unnaturally raised eyebrow position, and heavy-looking eyes can appear together.
In this patient as well, the issue was not simply the eyebrow position itself, but the repeated pattern of opening the eyes with the forehead,
which was affecting the balance of the entire upper face.
So in this brow lift, instead of simply lifting the eyebrows higher,
we focused on reducing forehead compensation and restoring a natural balance between the eyebrows and eyelids.

Looking at the enlarged photos above, rather than creating the impression of overly raised eyebrows,
you can see that the change moved in a direction that reduced the heaviness and tension of the upper eyelids.
What matters in a brow lift is not simply how high the eyebrows were raised,
but understanding why the eyebrows were being used so continuously in the first place.
An overly aggressive brow lift can instead create a startled appearance, forehead stiffness,
and an unnatural balance between the eyebrows and eyelids, so a restrained approach is important.
At the two-month post-operative point, we could see that, more than the eyebrow position itself, the overall tension of the upper face had changed in a more natural and relaxed direction.
A brow lift is not just a lifting procedure; it can be a surgery that must also take into account forehead compensation, eyelid heaviness, and the balance between the eyebrows and upper eyelids.
