Yeoksam-dong Dental Clinic Implants,
If done incorrectly just once,
why you may regret it for the rest of your life 〈Written by the Director〉
Yeoksam-dong Dental Clinic Implants
Hello.
I am Kim Moo-jin, director of D-Day Dental Clinic,
where we aim to provide treatments with minimal pain.

To be honest,
when people come in for implant consultations,
I more often tell them,
rather than “You should get the surgery,”
“Let’s take a little more time
and make the decision carefully.”
For those looking into implants for the first time,
this may sound unexpected.
There is only one reason.

Implants are a treatment
that is truly difficult to revise
once they have been placed.
Yeoksam-dong Dental Clinic Implants
People who gradually become uncomfortable
because their implants were placed incorrectly

People who have undergone surgery
in the same area two or three times
because the implant had to be removed and replaced

When they sit in the treatment room,
they say:
“I wish someone had stopped me
just one more time back then.”
Whenever I hear those words,
I am reminded once again
of how meaningful it can be
to offer one more word of caution
and encourage careful consideration
at the first consultation.
I hope this article gives you
one final opportunity to review everything
once more before beginning implant treatment.

- Implants are even more difficult to remove
once they have been placed
Every year, quite a few people
visit the treatment room
to have an implant removed and replaced.

All of them
-
had the original implant placed in the wrong location, or
-
had an implant that did not adequately integrate with the jawbone.

However, what is more difficult than removing it
is creating a new site in the same location.
If you pull a wrongly driven nail out of a wall
and try to drive another nail into the same spot,
there is already a larger hole than before,
so the new nail will not be secured properly.

Implants are the same.
Once placement has failed,
the amount and shape of the jawbone have changed,
so treatment has to begin again
under much more challenging conditions
than for a first-time procedure.
That is why I always tell my patients:
Getting it done correctly the first time
is the fastest and least painful approach.

Because I know that implants are difficult to reverse
once they have been placed,
I do not spare time on examinations and planning
before treatment begins.
- Even with the same procedure,
the outcome depends on who oversees it
through to the end
Another reason I say implants are difficult
is that treatment does not end
with simple placement.

It requires different decisions at every stage:
✔ From diagnosis
✔ Planning the implant placement location,
✔ Surgery and fabrication of the prosthesis
Each stage requires different judgment,
and the stages must connect smoothly
for the outcome to be stable.
That is why I believe the same person
should oversee everything from the patient’s first consultation
to the final placement of the prosthesis.
If the person who makes the initial diagnosis
is different from the person who performs the surgery,
their interpretations may differ
even when looking at the same images,
and that difference can affect the next ten years of a patient’s life.
If you have ever been told,
“You will only consult with the treatment coordinator,
and someone else will perform the surgery,”
I recommend that you check once more.

Asking who will take responsibility
from beginning to end
is by no means a small question
when it comes to implant treatment.
- At Yeoksam-dong Dental Clinic D-Day Dental Clinic,
we do not begin treatment
unless you are satisfied with your understanding
For implant treatment at D-Day Dental Clinic,
I personally oversee everything
from consultation to placement and prosthetics.

✔ My treatment principle is to ensure that patients fully understand their condition
✔ and understand why this treatment is necessary
before they lie down in the treatment chair.
Treatment that a patient does not understand
is unlikely to be good treatment,
even if it is theoretically appropriate.

The time spent living with the outcome
is much longer than the procedure itself.
That is why I show patients their examination results directly,
and if they do not understand them the first time,
I explain them again, two or three times if necessary.
Recently, one patient told me,
“This is the first place where I have truly heard
what is going on inside my mouth.”
Those words are my greatest sense of fulfillment.

More important to me than the outcome after treatment
is the time you spent fully understanding it before deciding;
that is the standard I consider most important in treatment.
“I wish someone had stopped me
just one more time back then”
is the heaviest regret expressed
by someone who has already received implants.
So that these words do not become more common,
I try to explain each decision as carefully and slowly as possible
in the treatment room every day.

If you have not started yet,
you are already in the best possible position.
Do not rush,
✔ Meet a doctor who shows you your examination results directly
✔ and be sure to check who will take responsibility through to the end.
We will explain everything sufficiently
and help you make your decision
after you understand and are satisfied with it.
