“My mom says she doesn’t even want to look in the mirror because of the under-eye puffiness.”
“People used to say her eyes were beautiful, but now her under-eyes look hollow and gaunt.”

Sometimes, while working, a daughter and her mother come in together for a consultation.
Often, the daughter has come because she wants to have surgery done for her mother, and I often hear comments like the ones above.
As we naturally age, if the orbital septum surrounding the under-eye fat weakens due to the aging process,
the fat pushes forward, causing the under-eye area to bulge and the tear trough to become deeply hollowed.
In addition, if the skin under the eyes sags, wrinkles become more pronounced, and the face not only looks tired and dull, but also appears older.

As such, under-eye fat and wrinkles that become increasingly noticeable can be improved through lower blepharoplasty,
helping create a more youthful and lively appearance.
Lower blepharoplasty removes sagging skin and unnecessary fat, then flattens and repositions the remaining fat,
and lifts and secures the skin and muscle to give the eye area a younger, more refreshed look.
It also minimizes scarring, allowing the aegyo-sal to appear naturally and making the eye area look brighter than before.
Shall we take a look at a case?

Before surgery
This is a pre-surgery photo. The upper eyelid also appears droopy, but today let’s focus on the lower area. Sagging skin and muscle are visible, and the orbital fat has moved forward, creating a bulging appearance. Below the bulge, hollowing is visible, and the hollow area looks even darker because of the shadow.
After surgery
This is the post-surgery photo. The fat has been flattened, and the sagging skin and muscle have been lifted to help restore a more youthful appearance.

Before surgery
This is a pre-surgery photo. There is sagging skin under the eyes, and wrinkles caused by it are also visible. The skin and muscle generally move together. As much as the skin has sagged, the muscle has also loosened, and the orbital fat can be seen protruding. When the orbital fat protrudes, the area beneath it is always cast in shadow.
After surgery
This is the post-surgery photo. The existing under-eye fat has been repositioned, and as a result, the shadowing has disappeared. Overall, the skin has been lifted, giving it more elasticity than before surgery. If the sagging skin and muscle are lifted and the fat is well managed, it is possible to return to a much younger and brighter appearance.
Lower blepharoplasty also plays a role in the so-called “filial piety surgery” that children recommend because they cannot bear to see their parents looking older due to wrinkles around the eyes and sagging under-eye fat.
It is also a popular anti-aging eye procedure among the so-called NO-OLD generation—people in their 50s and 60s who are getting older but choosing to live young—who proactively take care of themselves ahead of their children’s weddings.
Lower blepharoplasty tends to have high satisfaction among these procedures.
Coincidentally, there is a staff member at the hospital who is about to get married,
and we also performed lower blepharoplasty on that staff member’s mother, who was very satisfied with the result.
Because the degree of aging differs from person to person, it is most important to accurately assess the degree of sagging, elasticity, eye shape, eyelid thickness, amount of fat, and the amount of surrounding tissue,
then find the surgical method that best suits the individual and correct the eye area into a more elastic appearance.
Before being a mother, she was a woman who had her own beautiful days, with attractive eyes from that time.
In order to regain healthy, fresh elasticity and a natural eye-smile instead of today’s fine wrinkles around the eyes and shadowing under the eyes,
take part in a systematic consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has extensive clinical experience and expertise in youthful eye surgery, and then proceed with the procedure. Please remember that satisfaction will be higher when you do so.
