A hump nose has a raised bridge in the middle
which can make the face look stronger
or sometimes even appear stubborn,
so it is one of the areas many people consider for surgery.
But when it comes time to decide on surgery,
many people worry that it might become unnatural,
or that it could end up looking like a so-called
"human-fish face."
I would like to talk about the key to hump nose surgery
that can reduce these concerns
and create a natural, beautiful nose.
A hump nose refers to a nose shape
with a raised middle section of the bridge.
From the side, the bridge is not a straight line
but instead rises like a bird's beak.
This hump can occur due to congenital factors
or trauma.
When correcting a hump nose,
simply shaving down the protruding part
is not enough.
It is important to lower the raised hump
while also lifting the relatively low-looking tip
to balance the overall nose.

In the case of a patient I operated on,
from the side view,
the hump in the middle of the bridge was clearly visible,
and as a result, the tip looked somewhat round
and low.
In such cases, lowering the hump
and raising the tip
can create a much more refined and natural
nose line.
Looking at the result after surgery,
the protruding hump is gone,
and the tip is higher, creating an overall
soft curve.
Even from a 45-degree angle,
the hump is lower and the tip is higher,
giving a much more three-dimensional appearance.

In the past, the middle of the bridge
received the most light,
but after surgery,
the light falls most prominently on the tip,
allowing for a more three-dimensional
and feminine impression.

When performing hump nose surgery,
the materials used are also
very important.
In most hump nose correction surgeries,
the patient's own septal cartilage is used.
Septal cartilage is the cartilage inside the nose
and is an important structure that supports the nose.
In hump nose surgery,
the height of the septum often also needs to be
adjusted,
so the removed septal cartilage is used
to adjust the tip
and create a beautiful nose shape.
I also used the patient's septal cartilage
to naturally raise the tip
and refined the overall nose line
through hump osteotomy and reconstruction.
Because the patient's own cartilage is used,
the sensation of foreign material is minimal,
mand the risk of inflammatory reactions is lower,
allowing for a more natural result.
Of course, there are occasional cases
where the septal cartilage is too small
to be used,
but in most cases, satisfactory results
can be achieved with the patient's own
septal cartilage alone.
When surgery is performed using one’s own cartilage like this,
a natural and harmonious nose line can be completed,
as if it had always been your original nose.
If you are 고민하고 계신다면
about a hump nose, please consult thoroughly
with an experienced specialist
to find the natural nose line that suits you best.
Thank you. 😀
