For a flat foundation brush, resilience is the most important factor. When buying a brush, it is a good idea to flick and sweep the bristles with your finger. For a makeup brush, you should check whether the brush shape is deformed, whether the bristles feel soft, and whether they quickly return to their original shape.

The application method uses only the outer one-third of the brush, or the tip. The way to use it is to gently sweep it across the surface of the skin. Apply foundation in this order: cheeks → forehead → bridge of the nose → eye area → outer edges, and tap it on the areas that need extra coverage.

A foundation brush with good resilience and delicate bristles is also useful for applying lotion and cream. If you spread skincare products with a brush instead of your hands, you can apply them in a thin, even layer across the face, which can help improve product absorption.

If you want to create a V-line that is not noticeable even with fuller cheeks, you need a shading brush that naturally wraps around the face. When buying a shading brush, it is good to check whether the material is soft and choose one that is slightly flat. When using it, finish with powder so it does not clump, then use it on a matte face. Sweep it from the back of the face toward the front in a zigzag motion.
