Learn About Treatments to Relieve Rosacea Symptoms

What Is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a skin condition in which the face appears red and repeated flushing, papules, and blisters occur on protruding areas of the face such as the chin, forehead, and cheeks. During the hot summer, increased activity of the sebaceous glands can lead to greater sebum secretion and cause seborrheic dermatitis. However, in cold weather like now, rosacea can occur when the skin blood vessels expand after exposure to cold air and then entering a warm place.
Types of Rosacea
Although skin conditions are greatly affected by the weather, they can also arise from a variety of complex factors such as ultraviolet rays, irritants from cosmetics, psychological issues, and hormonal influences. In some cases, rosacea appears only temporarily, but if it recurs and is left untreated, it can develop into a chronic condition. Therefore, it is advisable to seek treatment as early as possible.
In particular, when flushing symptoms persist, many cases are diagnosed as a condition called rosacea, which is accompanied by papules, pus, and swelling in the flushed areas. Depending on the stage of progression, this condition can be classified as erythematotelangiectatic rosacea, vascular rosacea, and inflammatory rosacea. Since rosacea is a chronic, recurrent inflammatory disease, effective outcomes can only be achieved when a combination of treatments is used, rather than a single standardized treatment, including facial flushing laser treatment along with skin care and medication.

■ Erythematotelangiectatic rosacea: The face becomes red more easily than in others, and the redness lasts longer.
■ Vascular rosacea: Facial redness is severe, and the skin feels hot and burning at the same time.
■ Inflammatory rosacea: Redness is accompanied by acne-like bumps, with the characteristic that symptoms do not appear around the mouth and eyes.
Rosacea / Flushing Treatment Laser
So, what kinds of effective treatments are there for rosacea? The most effective method is to address the underlying cause. Human blood vessels have the characteristic that once they lose their ability to constrict, they are difficult to restore. Therefore, it is best to avoid places with extreme temperature differences as much as possible, and in daily life, prevention should be the top priority, such as consistently applying sunscreen. If the condition has already progressed, it is wise to undergo laser treatment that can treat the blood vessels, which are the source of rosacea.

Lasers for rosacea such as Vbeam Perfecta, Excel V, and Icon maxG are used. These devices are vascular-specific dye lasers that selectively absorb vascular pigments, so they do not damage other skin tissues and have the advantage of relieving symptoms without special discomfort after the procedure.
Rosacea Treatment Laser "Vbeam Perfecta"

Vbeam Perfecta has a cooling device that protects the skin surface, so it has fewer side effects than other laser systems. Because it causes less bruising and purpura, it allows a quick return to daily life. It is also highly effective for treating red acne marks in addition to rosacea.
Rosacea Treatment Laser "Excel V"

The Excel V laser can be used effectively according to the patient’s condition through three modes: the KTP mode, which effectively treats pigmented lesions using high-output energy; the long-pulse mode, which treats deeper lesions; and the Genesis microsecond mode, which is effective for pore scars and fine lines.
- Vascular treatment, pigmentation treatment, toning, hair removal, lifting
Rosacea Treatment Laser "Icon Green"

The Icon maxG laser is effective at improving pigment and vascular issues at the same time. Because the effective wavelength for each lesion is automatically set, it has the advantage of solving multiple complex issues through a single procedure.
-
Vascular lesions: flushing, acne erythema, enlarged blood vessels
-
Pigmented lesions: melasma, spots, freckles
