Seasonal changes can worsen skin aging and melasma,
Director Im E-seok appears as a consultant on SBS Good Morning
Hello,
This is Im E-seok Theme Dermatology.
Director Im E-seok appeared on SBS Good Morning as a consultant.
It was explained that skin aging that worsens during seasonal changes, along with photoaging caused by increased outdoor activity, can make pigmentary lesions such as melasma and dark spots more noticeable or worse.
He also said, "Ultraviolet rays damage the skin barrier and destroy elastic fibers such as collagen and elastin, which reduces skin elasticity and can cause pigment disorders."
In addition, he said, "As we age, skin elasticity decreases, which can lead to fine lines or deeper wrinkles. Since these are changes caused by aging, they can be improved through care."
For improvement, he recommended foods rich in vitamin C. He said, "Vitamin C helps with collagen production, reduces oxidative radicals, and inhibits melanin production, thereby reducing pigmentation."
