According to a recent announcement by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the number of foreign patients visiting Korea last year exceeded 2 million for the first time, and the medical tourism industry is growing rapidly. This figure is nearly double compared with just one year earlier, showing that the global competitiveness of Korean medicine is being further strengthened.

In particular, medical demand centered on “K-Beauty” stood out, as about 62.9% of all foreign patients received dermatology care. Preferences were also high for procedures that create a natural, youthful look, such as lifting, anti-aging, and pigmentation treatment. In addition, most patients are concentrated in Seoul, and combined consumption patterns that include both medical care and tourism/shopping have become common.

By nationality, Chinese patients account for the largest share and are driving the Korean medical tourism market.
