Hello, this is Etoile de Seoul Dental Clinic.
Today, I prepared this post because I want to tell many people not to lose hope, even in edentulous situations that worry them.
"Now that I’m getting older, my teeth are starting to fall out one by one, and I’m afraid I’ll eventually lose all of them," "I’m worried I’ll have to wear dentures," "I’m still young, but if I’ve lost many teeth in an accident, can I still live normally?"
There must be many people carrying these concerns.
But please don’t worry. Thanks to the development of modern dental technology, there are fully satisfying solutions even in edentulous situations.
We take care of your dental health.
All-on-X Treatment Even for Edentulous Cases Without Worry
What Are Edentulous Cases and All-on-X?
Edentulous means, quite literally, a state of having no teeth. It refers to cases where teeth are missing congenitally, or lost due to cavities, gum disease, accidents, and so on. In particular, in the case of complete edentulism, where all teeth are lost, not only chewing function but also pronunciation and facial shape are affected. Just as a house collapses when its pillars fall, losing teeth can also lead to gradual resorption of the jawbone, making the face appear sunken.
All-on-X was introduced for situations like this. All-on-X is short for All-on-X and is an innovative treatment that restores an entire set of teeth with only a minimal number of implants. In the past, every tooth had to be replaced one by one with implants, but All-on-X can help restore the function of an entire arch with just about 4 to 6 implants. It is like building a sturdy bridge with only a small number of pillars.

Various Treatment Approaches for All-on-X

There are several methods for All-on-X treatment. The most basic approach is to precisely assess the individual’s jawbone condition, then place implants in areas with higher bone density and greater thickness. At this stage, special angles and positional calculations are used to design the treatment so that force can be distributed as efficiently as possible.
In particular, digital treatment using a 3D navigation system allows a simulated surgery to be performed on a computer before the procedure, helping implants be placed in the exact position. This works on the same principle as an architect placing pillars in the correct locations by looking at a blueprint. Because it is performed as a flapless procedure, it may help reduce swelling and pain and shorten recovery time.
In addition, by applying an immediate loading approach, a temporary prosthesis can be attached on the day of surgery, minimizing the inconvenience of having to stay without teeth. This provides an answer to one of the concerns many of you have most often: "When can I return to daily life after surgery?"
Prevention and Care for All-on-X

After All-on-X treatment, care is not very different from caring for natural teeth. Brushing properly and using dental floss every day are basic, and it is important to check the health of the tissue around the implants through regular checkups. In particular, smoking and excessive drinking can cause inflammation around implants, so it is best to avoid them.
When eating, start with soft foods at first and gradually adapt to harder foods. Just as when you first start exercising you begin with light intensity, implants also require a step-by-step adjustment period. Once the final prosthesis is completed, chewing strength may improve depending on the individual, which can help with food intake.
Your Real Concerns and Solutions

"I was told that the jawbone has been absorbed a lot and that implants are impossible, but is All-on-X really possible?" Many people worry about this. In fact, conventional implants required sufficient bone height and width, but All-on-X may help treatment with a relatively smaller amount of bone, depending on the person, by placing implants at special angles. It is a technique that uses tilted implants to allow contact with more bone, and in many cases it can be performed without bone grafting.
"Can All-on-X be done even if I’m older?" Age itself is not a contraindication. In fact, for older adults, All-on-X may be more suitable than individual implants that require multiple visits. However, systemic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension should be well controlled, and it is important to create a personalized plan through precise examination.
"The cost is too burdensome—are there other options?" Compared with replacing all teeth with individual implants, All-on-X is a much more economical choice. It also shortens the treatment period, saving time costs, and because the function of the entire set of teeth can be restored with one surgery, it can be considered a more efficient investment in the long term.
Questions You May Have

The first thing many people ask about is the surgery time and recovery period. The duration of All-on-X surgery can vary depending on the individual, and it is performed using a 3D navigation system. Recovery time varies from person to person, and the timing of returning to daily life and completing the prosthesis may differ depending on the individual’s condition.
The second question is about the durability of All-on-X. With proper care, it can help support long-term maintenance, and regular checkups and proper oral care are the most important factors affecting its lifespan. Just like natural teeth, its longevity can vary depending on how it is managed.
The third is the difference between All-on-X and dentures. Dentures are removable, but their chewing force is only about 60–80% of natural teeth, and because they rest on the gums, they can move. On the other hand, All-on-X is fixed to the jawbone and, depending on the person, may help improve chewing force.
Final Words
An edentulous situation may feel hopeless, but please do not give up. With the advancement of modern dental technology, many things that were once impossible have become possible. All-on-X is not just a treatment that restores tooth function; it also helps restore confidence and quality of life. Since each person’s situation and conditions are different, it is important to establish the most appropriate treatment plan through a precise evaluation. Do not be afraid—please take courage and make a new start.
