What are full-arch implants?

Full-arch implants are a treatment method that restores all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw with only 4 to 6 implants.
Think of it like a building supported by just a few pillars, holding up the entire structure.
Unlike conventional implants, where one implant is placed for each tooth, full-arch implants restore overall chewing function by placing implants at special angles and positions.
This method can often be performed without bone grafting, which can greatly reduce the burden of surgery.

Current status of full-arch implant insurance coverage
Let me explain full-arch implant insurance coverage, which many people are curious about.
At present, the National Health Insurance provides implant insurance benefits to seniors aged 65 and older.
However, unfortunately, full-arch implant insurance is not yet included in the scope of National Health Insurance coverage.
Instead, for regular implants, if you are 65 or older, you can receive insurance coverage for up to 2 implants in your lifetime.
At that time, the out-of-pocket cost is about 30%, and you can receive implant treatment at a cost of around 300,000 won per implant.

Other options to consider besides insurance
Even if full-arch implant insurance coverage is difficult,
you do not have to give up.
There are ways to reduce the financial burden through several methods.
First, you can make use of the medical expense tax deduction.

Implant treatment costs are eligible for the medical expense tax deduction, so during year-end tax settlement, you can receive a 15% tax credit for medical expenses that exceed 3% of your total salary.
This effectively helps reduce the treatment cost burden.
You can also use a installment payment system for treatment costs.
Many dental clinics operate installment payment systems for people who find it difficult to pay a large amount at once.

How to care for full-arch implants
After receiving full-arch implants,
it is important to care for them as you would natural teeth.
With proper care, they can be used for a long time, so in the long run they can be economical.
Brushing three times a day,
within 30 minutes after meals,
is recommended.
Using an electric toothbrush instead of a regular one can help remove plaque more effectively.
When brushing, gently clean the area where the gums and teeth meet at a 45-degree angle, as if massaging it.
Flossing is also very important.
For full-arch implants, it is better to use implant-specific floss or a Waterpik rather than regular floss.

Common concerns from patients and possible solutions
Here are a few concerns we often hear in the treatment room.
"Doctor, the cost of full-arch implants is too burdensome, so I want to know whether insurance applies. I am 70 years old—what benefits can I receive?"
For people with this concern,
we first explain the insurance benefits for regular implants.
If you are 65 or older, you can receive insurance coverage for up to 2 implants, and for the rest, you pay out of pocket but can receive the medical expense tax deduction benefit.

"I want to get full-arch implants,
but it is difficult to pay a large amount all at once.
Is there another option?"
In such cases, we guide patients to the installment payment system.
When we tell them that the cost can be split into monthly payments of about 300,000 to 500,000 won,
many people look relieved.

A word from the heart
To everyone who is worried about dental problems,
what I want to say is: do not give up treatment because of cost.
Of course, full-arch implant insurance coverage is not available, so it may feel burdensome,
but there are various ways to reduce that burden.
Above all, what matters most is the quality of life that comes from being able to eat delicious food with healthy teeth and smile confidently.
The cost may feel burdensome right now,
but in the long run, it is well worth the investment.
If treatment is delayed, the situation may worsen and end up costing even more.
Please take the courage to talk now, have a consultation about what is right for you,
and establish the treatment plan and cost plan that best suits you.
At ETOILE de Seoul Dental Clinic,
we understand the financial burden many people face,
and we are working together to find the best treatment option.
We will always cheer you on for your healthy smile.
We hope that full-arch implants can bring new vitality to your life,
and we will always be waiting for you with a warm heart.
