Hello.
A place that does its best
for a healthy smile
This is Etoile de Seoul Dental Clinic.
These days, as I meet many patients in the clinic, there is something I often notice. There are so many people who worry about dentures. Every time they eat, they feel self-conscious, they hesitate to smile in front of others, and even when dining out with family, they struggle to choose a menu.
Some people just endure it, thinking, "I guess this is what happens when you get older."
But do you really have to give up and live like that? I don't think so.
Today, I’d like to share the story of someone I met in person. I want to talk about how that person, who first came in with their head bowed, was able to smile brightly again. I hope this can bring even a little hope to those considering the full-arch implant treatment process. If you are having a hard time right now, I sincerely hope this story can offer you a little comfort.
We take responsibility for your dental health.
The day they could smile again

Last fall, someone opened the clinic door and walked in. He was a man in his mid-70s, and my heart hurt the moment I saw him. He was hanging his head deeply. As soon as the consultation began, he covered his mouth with his hand and said:
"Doctor, I can’t even eat in front of people anymore. I avoid company dinners at work, and even when I eat out with my family, I’m always tense. My denture keeps moving."
He said he had been using dentures for five years. At first, they were manageable, but as time passed, he began to feel them slipping, and every time he chewed, he felt uneasy. He said he couldn’t even think about hard foods, and because he kept choosing only soft foods, he was worried about nutrition and had lost a lot of weight.
What was most heartbreaking was what he said about his family. "My elementary school-aged son wants to eat fried chicken with his friends, but I can only watch. I feel so sorry that my wife has to prepare only porridge and soft side dishes for me."
Seeing his eyes well up, I felt a lump in my throat too.

Small changes come together
As we set up the treatment plan together, the first steps were a CT scan and an oral scan. When I explained everything using the 3D images, his expression gradually brightened. He seemed to gain hope when I told him that there was more possibility than he expected.
The most important part of the full-arch implant treatment process is accurate positioning. In his case, the upper jawbone had been significantly resorbed, but by using a 3D navigation system, we planned to place four implants without bone grafting.
"You mean it can be done without bone grafting?" he asked in surprise. I replied, "Yes. The remaining bone condition is not bad. If we adjust the angle for placement, it is fully possible."
On the day of surgery, he came in looking nervous. But the procedure took less time than expected, and above all, he was amazed that a temporary prosthesis could be attached on the same day.
"Is this really in my mouth? It doesn’t move!"
Watching him smile cautiously in the mirror, I was truly happy as well.

An invitation back to everyday life
When he returned two weeks later for a follow-up, he seemed like a completely different person. His expression was brighter, and his voice was stronger.
"Doctor, I went out with my family to eat pork belly last weekend. It was the first time in five years, the first time in five years that I chewed meat!"
There was real emotion in his voice. His wife had initially worried and told him not to overdo it. But the temporary prosthesis was much more stable than expected, and he said there were no problems at all with chewing.
"My son asks me to buy him fried chicken. Now we can eat it together."
I still remember clearly how brightly he smiled at that moment.
A month later, it was the day we placed the final prosthesis. When he saw the gum line made of pink porcelain, which looked more natural than the temporary one, and the zirconia teeth, he was amazed.
"Is this really mine? It looks completely natural!"
The final prosthesis was much more stable than the temporary one, and its chewing strength was about 90% of natural teeth. He tried chewing different things and burst out laughing.

The beginning of a new life
One day, three months later, he came in for a regular checkup. His face looked even brighter, and it seemed as though he had gained weight.
"These days, I actually look forward to company dinners. Before, I was always trying to avoid them. Last week, I went to eat galbi with the people in my department, and I ate the best of all."
He also said his relationship with his family had changed. His wife no longer worried about what to prepare for meals, because they could eat anything together. He proudly said that he and his son now go around trying good restaurants every weekend.
"The other day, my son took a picture of me. He said he likes my smiling face. I really used to hate being photographed."
Seeing him regain his daily life after finishing the full-arch implant treatment process reminded me once again why I do this work.
Another touching moment

A woman in her 70s whom I recently met also left a strong impression on me. After long-term denture use, her jawbone had been significantly resorbed, and we restored her entire lower jaw with six implants.
"My grandson looked at my face and said, ‘Grandma, you look pretty when you smile.’ It was the first time I’d ever heard that."
She said she now eats sweet snacks with her grandson and peels apples to share. She had diabetes, but because her blood sugar was being managed well, treatment was possible, and now she is doing well and receiving regular checkups every three months.

What I want to tell you
Some of you reading this may be struggling with dentures right now. Eating may feel frightening, meeting people may feel burdensome, and you may feel sorry toward your family.
But please don’t give up hope. The full-arch implant treatment process is not as difficult as you might think. You can return to everyday life right away by having temporary teeth placed on the same day, and the final prosthesis can be completed within a month.
You also do not need to worry just because of age. In fact, this method is suitable for people who find it difficult to visit the clinic multiple times. Even if you have diabetes or high blood pressure, it is possible in most cases as long as it is well managed.
The most important thing is to gather your courage. The patients I met were all scared at first. But now they say, "I should have done this sooner."
People who used to smile carefully because they were afraid their dentures would fall out now smile brightly. People who avoided hard foods now eat whatever they want. People who were afraid of meeting others now take the initiative.

Toward a new day
Every morning when you wake up, the first thing you do is look in the mirror. If you can smile confidently at that moment, the day is already halfway to success. Sharing delicious food with your family, talking comfortably with friends, and smiling confidently when taking photos—wouldn’t that be happiness?
What comes after the full-arch implant treatment process is not just new teeth. It is the confidence you lost, the enjoyment of daily life you regained, and happy time with your family.
If you are struggling right now, please gather a little courage. Six months from now, a year from now, you will surely be smiling brightly in a different way than you are today.
We will continue to support your bright smile today as well. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us anytime. Let’s create hope together.
