Alternative options and criteria to consider when choosing a tooth restoration method
Today, we would like to talk about tooth restoration methods that many people are considering. When most of your teeth have been lost, everyone wants to regain healthy teeth.
However, when you actually look into treatment, many people end up postponing their decision because of financial burden, treatment duration, and fear of surgery. We would like to share practical information for those worried about the cost of full implants.
We take responsibility for your dental health.
Options to consider when teeth are lost

When most of your teeth are lost, many people worry about the balance between financial burden and physical discomfort. Those who have worn dentures for a long time often complain of inconvenience. They may feel them wobble every time they eat, and feel uncomfortable when speaking, which can also make them less willing to engage in social situations. Wanting to avoid placing an economic burden on their children while still hoping to change their current discomfort, and feeling burdened by having to visit the clinic many times at an advanced age—these concerns often come together.

Differences between full implants and full-arch implants
Many people think that if they lose all of their teeth, every single tooth must be replaced with an implant one by one. A full implant approach literally means replacing all teeth with individual implants. Since the upper and lower jaws together have 28 to 32 teeth, theoretically that many implants may be needed. Naturally, the cost of full implants can become quite high, the process can take a long time, and it can require multiple visits.

However, full-arch implants take a different approach. Like a building supported by only a few pillars, this method restores the function of an entire jaw of teeth with 4 to 6 implants. This is not simply reducing the number of implants; it is made possible through a technique that places implants at special angles and positions. It can be an economical and effective alternative.

Guide to the full-arch implant process
Full-arch implant treatment begins with a thorough diagnosis. Through CT scans and oral scans, we precisely assess the condition of the patient's jawbone and oral structure. Using a 3D navigation system, we carry out a simulated procedure on the computer and plan in advance the position and angle where the implants will be placed. This may allow treatment to proceed without bone grafting even in cases where the jawbone is insufficient.
The actual surgery may take about 2 to 3 hours, and the implants are placed according to the 3D navigation plan. One noteworthy point is that there are cases where temporary prosthetics are fitted on the day of surgery, so patients do not have to remain without teeth. It generally takes a certain period of time for the gums to heal and for the implants to stabilize. Pink porcelain is used to finely recreate the gum line, and zirconia material is used to create natural-looking teeth, allowing for results that can look as natural as your own gums.

Features of full-arch implants
The main features of full-arch implants are economy and efficiency. Compared with the cost of full implants, they can be more economical and may help restore chewing function. Since this method can restore the function of all teeth with 4 to 6 implants, it may reduce both cost and time. Also, because it is a fixed prosthesis, it can reduce problems like slipping or wobbling that are common with dentures. It can help with stability, making it useful when speaking or eating.
Another feature is that the treatment period may be relatively short. Full implants may take several months to over a year because each tooth must be placed and healing must be waited for, but full-arch implants can be completed in a relatively shorter period. This is one reason they may be worth considering for older patients or those with limited mobility. In addition, because the surgical area is relatively small, it may help recovery, and a no-incision approach using 3D navigation may help reduce pain.

Insurance coverage and selection considerations
When considering full-arch implants, whether national health insurance applies is also an important factor. If you are 65 or older, you may be eligible for health insurance implant benefits, which can help reduce your out-of-pocket costs. However, the scope and conditions of insurance coverage may vary depending on the individual's oral condition, so it is important to confirm this through an accurate diagnosis. For those burdened by the cost of full implants, it is a good idea to actively make use of these insurance benefits.
When choosing full-arch implants, it is helpful to consider a few criteria. First, this may be an option for people who are currently using dentures but experience significant discomfort, those whose jawbone has been greatly lost and for whom general implants may be difficult, and those who have difficulty visiting the clinic multiple times. Also, even if you have chronic conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure, treatment may still be possible if the condition is well controlled.

How to care for full-arch implants after treatment
Full-arch implants also require care, just like natural teeth. You should keep the area around the implants clean with proper daily brushing and flossing. In the early stage after temporary prosthetics are fitted, it is better to avoid hard or chewy foods, and after the final prosthesis is placed, most foods can be eaten. However, it is best to avoid biting very hard foods or things like ice.
Regular checkups are also important. Having follow-up examinations every 6 months to check the implant condition and the health of the surrounding gums, and receiving scaling when needed, is the way to maintain implants for a long time. Quitting smoking is also very important, as smoking can harm gum health and cause peri-implantitis, so we recommend not smoking before and after treatment. With proper care, they can be used for a long time, and we operate a follow-up care program.
