to create a healthy smile
At Etoile Seoul Dental Clinic.
Are you troubled by the inconvenience of dentures? Is there a better option?
If you use dentures, you may have thought about this at least once. Every time you eat, the dentures shift and you cannot chew properly, and when you smile, you are always worried they might come loose.
You may have given up hard foods long ago, and days may keep repeating where poor chewing puts a burden on digestion. Even when talking with others, you may be cautious because you worry your pronunciation will slip out, and the inconvenience of not being able to eat comfortably even at family gatherings. Today, we would like to share information about full-arch implant dentures for those who are dealing with these concerns.
We take care of your dental health.
"Limitations of Standard Dentures"

Many patients visit us because of discomfort with dentures. As the dentures move, people may not be able to chew properly while eating, may find speech uncomfortable, or may end up giving up hard foods. Because dentures rest on the gums, stability is limited, and as time passes and the jawbone is resorbed, the dentures can become even looser.
Some visitors also say they cannot eat comfortably even at family gatherings.
Difference from Existing Dentures
What I want to tell those who are dealing with these concerns is full-arch implants. Unlike standard dentures, this method places about 4 to 6 implants in the jawbone and then attaches a fixed prosthesis on top. In simple terms, it is like setting up strong pillars to support an entire set of teeth, just as you would place columns when building a structure.
If standard dentures rest on the gums, full-arch implant dentures are firmly fixed to the jawbone, so they move less inside the mouth. Although there are individual differences, they may help restore chewing function closer to natural teeth, and may bring positive changes when eating hard foods.
In addition, the gum line can be finely reproduced with pink porcelain, and the teeth can be made with zirconia material to create a natural appearance similar to your own gums.
How does the process work?
What many people are most curious about is the process. First, a 3D CT scan is used to accurately diagnose the condition of the jawbone. What is important here is that if the jawbone is insufficient, bone grafting is not necessarily required. By using a 3D navigation system, implants can be placed by finding areas with bone and adjusting the angle, so in many cases the procedure can be carried out without bone grafting.

The process is as follows. First, a simulation is performed on a computer and the prosthesis is designed. Then the implants are placed accurately at the planned positions. In some cases, it may be possible to attach a temporary prosthesis on the same day, but the method and period may vary depending on the condition of the individual’s jawbone and overall health. Temporary discomfort or swelling may occur after the procedure, and an adjustment period is needed. Once the gums have healed and the implants have stabilized, the final prosthesis is generally attached within a certain period, although this may vary from person to person.
Importance of Aftercare
Full-arch implant dentures also require care, just like natural teeth. Daily proper tooth brushing and flossing are necessary, and regular checkups are recommended. By checking the health of the gums around the implants and receiving scaling, they may be used for a long period if properly cared for, though this can vary depending on individual oral condition and care habits.
Especially in the early stage after the temporary prosthesis is attached, it is better to avoid foods that are too hard or too chewy. After the final prosthesis is attached, it may help you eat most foods, but during the initial adjustment period, we recommend gradually progressing step by step when eating.
Possible positive changes in daily life

Some people experience changes in the inconvenience caused by dentures through the full-arch implant denture method. Positive changes may occur, such as regaining the enjoyment of eating and gaining confidence when talking with others. However, results vary depending on the individual’s oral condition, jawbone condition, and overall health, and the same results will not appear for everyone.
For a Better Quality of Life
Just because dentures are uncomfortable, or because you are older, does not mean you have to simply endure it. Even now, you can still look for a better quality of life. However, since full-arch implant dentures are a highly advanced procedure, accurate diagnosis and skilled technique are required.
Precise diagnosis using 3D equipment, planning through simulation, and thorough aftercare afterward—all of these steps must come together to increase the chances of a good outcome. If you are currently considering full-arch implant dentures, please confirm through sufficient consultation whether this is the right method for you. Even if you have diabetes or high blood pressure, you can check whether the procedure is possible if the condition is well controlled, so if you have been hesitating because of your health condition, please look into this as well. We support your bright smile and healthy daily life.
