Actors Kim Da-mi, ITZY’s Yeji, and actor Jeon Yeo-been all have one thing in common.
They all have monolid eyes. When people think of monolids, they usually imagine an image that looks flat and dull, but these three have monolids without drooping eyelids
and without much fat, so their eyes instead stand out as distinctive features.
In such cases, it is not necessary to force a double eyelid through monolid surgery, but if there is a lot of fat around the eyes or
the eyelids are drooping and obstructing vision, considering monolid surgery may also be helpful for eyesight.
So today, let’s look at the double-eyelid surgery methods for people with a lot of fat in the eyelid area and for those with monolids.
- Monolid Surgery for Eyelids with a Lot of Fat

The patient visited our clinic because they were concerned about the fat above the eyelids and the short horizontal and vertical appearance of monolid eyes.
They wanted a brighter eye shape by having double-eyelid surgery and eye corner surgery at the same time, so after removing the eyelid fat through a customized design,
we performed the surgery by designing a semi-out line using the incision method.
In addition, the obstructed-looking outer corners of the eyes were improved by performing both lateral canthoplasty and lower canthoplasty at the same time,
creating a brighter eye shape.
- Surgery for Horizontally Long Monolids

The patient had eyes that were long horizontally, so they did not have much concern about eye size,
but they came to our clinic wanting a double-eyelid line that would look aesthetically beautiful.
They wanted a glamorous in-out line, so the surgery was performed with a customized design.
This patient also did not have much fat in the eyelids, so we created the double-eyelid line using the natural adhesion method,
and additionally performed epicanthoplasty and upper canthoplasty to raise the inner corners of the eyes by 45 degrees, improving them into a brighter eye shape.

As explained earlier, monolids can largely be divided into two types: those with a lot of fat in the eyelid area and those without much fat, and to choose the appropriate
surgical method, it is important to accurately understand the patient’s own eye type.
Among monolid surgeries, the incision method is suitable for those who want a permanent double eyelid, have severe eyelid sagging, or have a lot of fat, while
non-incisional methods such as natural adhesion are suitable for those who want a quick recovery and a simpler procedure, or those with little eyelid fat.
If you have monolid eyes and are considering double-eyelid surgery, but are worried about which surgical method is right for you,
we recommend visiting Baba Plastic Surgery anytime for an examination and consultation.
