If you are considering double eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty, the first and most important thing to understand is
your own constitution and the structure of your eyes and nose,
and then, through consultation with experienced medical staff who are well suited to your condition,
to achieve the desired results with the appropriate method.
The factors that affect the outcome after surgery are not only the skill of the medical staff, but also how well you follow the care and precautions during the recovery period, which is extremely important.
So today, we will answer the questions that patients most often ask after double eyelid surgery and nose surgery.

Can the stitches from the incision or canthoplasty area be removed early after eye and nose surgery?

A: We usually advise removing them after 7 days following surgery, but there may be differences depending on the area.
Removing them a day earlier or later does not cause a problem for the surgical site,
but if they are left in place for a longer period before removal, the surgical site may open up,
and stitch marks (scarring) may remain. Therefore, it is best to remove them as close as possible to the time recommended by the clinic.

How long should I apply eye ointment after stitch removal following eye and nose surgery?

A: First, the eye ointment provided after surgery (Ocuprox eye ointment) is an antibiotic ointment used to treat bacterial infections,
and it should be used until the stitches are removed. After the stitches are removed, you do not need to apply the eye ointment.
However, if a scar remains and scar care is needed, you may be prescribed a separate scar ointment to apply,
and scar ointment can be used starting the day after stitch removal.

How many times do I need to visit the clinic after eye and nose surgery?

A: In the case of eye surgery, the first visit is after one week for stitch removal.
After that, you will need to visit once at one month and once between 3 and 6 months for follow-up checks, so the total number of visits is 3.
In the case of nose surgery, cotton is inserted into the nose after surgery to control bleeding and provide support, and this cotton is removed the day after surgery, so the first visit is the day after surgery. After that, you will need a second visit after one week for stitch removal. From then on, as with eye surgery, you will visit once at one month and once between 3 and 6 months for follow-up checks, so the total number of visits is 4.

How long should I avoid smoking and drinking after eye and nose surgery?

A: It is best to avoid smoking and alcoholic drinks containing alcohol for at least one month after surgery.
In particular, nicotine in cigarettes can cause inflammation at the surgical site, and inflammation can lead to scarring, which may negatively affect the result.

Can I keep taking my usual supplements after eye and nose surgery?
A: Supplements taken for health often contain ingredients that thin the blood to improve circulation.
This can cause delayed bleeding, which most commonly occurs on days 1 to 2 after surgery.
To help prevent bleeding, we recommend not taking supplements for at least 3 days.
