Analyzing Semi-Outline Double Eyelids: Wonyoung Jang’s Double Eyelid Line

Hello, this is Baba Plastic Surgery. Peak season has now passed, and we are entering the off-season.

Even during this peak season, the surgery most patients came to our clinic for was the representative cosmetic procedure: double eyelid surgery.

There are broadly four types of double eyelid lines, and the line most people prefer is the semi-outline line, also called the Wonyoung Jang double eyelid line.

So today, we will post about semi-outline double eyelids, which create a glamorous-looking eye shape.

What is a semi-outline double eyelid?

It is an intermediate type between an in-out line and an outline line. The double eyelid line at the inner corner of the eye is higher than an in-out line

and lower than an outline line, allowing both naturalness and a glamorous look at the same time.

What is double eyelid balance?

In double eyelid surgery, one of the most important things to check is double eyelid balance.

This applies to all line types. When the eye is divided into three sections based on the pupil—inner corner, center, and outer corner—

if the inner part of the double eyelid is not larger than the outer line when viewed from the center outward, it can be considered an ideal double eyelid balance.

In the case of a semi-outline, the inner line of the double eyelid is relatively high, but if it is excessively large,

it may look like a sausage eye and be aesthetically unpleasing, so it is best to proceed with surgery based on an accurate examination.

Also, semi-outline eyelids can be divided into two types: a natural semi-outline line and a glamorous semi-outline line.

This can be distinguished by how closely the eyelid line adheres to the Mongolian fold line. A line that is closer to

the Mongolian fold is a natural semi-outline line, while a line whose starting point is farther away from the Mongolian fold can be classified as a glamorous semi-outline.

At Baba Plastic Surgery, we identify the most suitable double eyelid line through the Profile Eye BTI test, which can assess the distance between the eyes, the starting point of the double eyelid, the height of the double eyelid, and the curve shape of the double eyelid.

Let’s analyze a representative example of a semi-outline using photos of Jang Wonyoung with our Agnima program.

In Jang Wonyoung’s case, the double eyelid lines on the right and left have both a natural semi-outline and a glamorous semi-outline,

and the center height is 4.4 mm and 4.6 mm, which is considered high. The distance between the eyes is 32 mm to 35 mm, which is average,

and the starting point of the double eyelid is far from the Mongolian fold. The height of the semi-outline double eyelid is about 5 mm, so it falls into the glamorous category,

and the curve shape of the double eyelid is straight with the back line slightly higher. The BTI result was identified as ASHT.

This patient had sleepy-looking eyes and tightly closed-looking monolid eyes, and the desired line was

a glamorous semi-outline. Unnecessary fat in the upper eyelid area that created a heavy look was removed, and

the sleepy-looking eyes were corrected to appear more defined through eye muscle correction. The double eyelid line was then designed as a semi-outline with a high inner corner, and the covered area of the Mongolian fold at the inner corner was improved at the same time with front-and-upper epicanthoplasty, resulting in a much clearer eye shape.

This is a before-and-after case in which double eyelid surgery with a semi-outline made the eyes much more defined and glamorous.

Because double eyelid surgery can create major changes even with a microscopic difference of 0.1 mm, there are many details that must be carefully considered in order to avoid unsatisfactory results or side effects.

We recommend considering not only the eye type factors mentioned earlier, such as the distance between the eyes and the starting point of the double eyelid, but also various other factors such as your own anatomical structure, skin thickness, degree of eyeball protrusion, eye length, and how widely the eyes open,

and proceeding with an appropriate clinic and an experienced specialist.

Rather than a double eyelid surgery that simply makes the eyes bigger, we carefully identify each individual’s physical characteristics and structure,

and use specialized programs to provide a more accurate customized line.
