Hello, this is Apgujeong Baba Plastic Surgery.
Recently, the video uploaded to our YouTube channel, “Glamorous Nose Job, Is Going High Always the Answer?⁉️ | 4-Minute Quick Tips for a Successful Nose Job,” has been getting a lot of attention.
When patients come in for a consultation, the most common questions are usually about how high the nose will be made and how many millimeters of silicone will be used.
Some people also think that a high nose is always beautiful, so today we’ll take some time to explain the myths and facts behind that idea.
Nose Height

Nose height can be broadly divided into two parts: the bridge and the tip.
When deciding on bridge height, it is best to first check these three considerations.
Bridge Height
- Gender (male/female)

For women, if the nose becomes too long, it can make them look older, so it is better to adjust the length so that it does not look long in relation to the overall facial proportions.
Conversely, for men, if the nose is too short compared with the overall harmony of the face, it can give a more heavy or mature impression, so it is better to design it slightly shorter than for women.

At this point, the higher the glabella is, the higher the starting point of the nose becomes, making the nose appear longer.
For women, the glabella is designed lower, while for men it is made longer and higher,
emphasizing the T-zone to create a more masculine look when designing the bridge height.
- Midface & Nose Length

The longer the midface, the lower the glabella height is set. The shorter the midface,
the higher the bridge height is set to balance the overall face proportions.
- Facial Volume (Forehead / Front Cheekbones / Protruding Mouth)

When viewed from the side, if a person has sufficient projection, designing the nose more glamorously can help balance the overall appearance.
On the other hand, if the forehead, front cheekbones, and lips have low projection and a flat appearance, then making the nose glamorous can create what is commonly called a “fish-like face” (a face that appears to have only the midface protruding),
so some compromise is needed regarding bridge height.
*The angle of the nasal bridge can also affect how glamorous it looks.

The angle of the nasal bridge = bridge height
= glamorous design
-> can instead create a flat effect
The angle of the nasal bridge = glamorous, bridge height = flat
-> can create a glamorous effect
Nose Tip Height

People who want a glamorous design often wish for a higher nose tip. At Baba Plastic Surgery, we design as closely as possible to each patient’s needs,
but when the patient’s facial volume around the nose does not match, we do not recommend making the nose tip excessively glamorous and high.
The reason is that if the volume is insufficient but only the nose tip is made very glamorous, the result can strongly look like a surgical nose and create an artificial, unnatural appearance.
That is why we provide 1:1 custom design based on the volume each patient already has.
Side Effects of a High Nose
Recently popular “glamorous straight-line” nose surgery often raises and straightens the bridge and tip to create a clear, defined impression.
However, nose surgery that emphasizes height alone comes with several risks.
- Columella exposure and excessive nostril exposure
If the nose tip is lifted too much, the face can look awkward instead.
- Breakdown of overall facial proportions
If only the nose is made higher, harmony with the forehead, chin, and cheekbones is disrupted, resulting in an unnatural impression.
- Tissue strain and risk of revision surgery
An excessively high implant can strain the skin and cartilage, which may later lead to discomfort or deformity.
In short, it is difficult to say that a nose job is glamorous and successful simply because it is high.
What Baba Plastic Surgery Considers a “Successful Glamorous Nose Job”
At Baba, we consider factors that are more important than nose height alone.
Overall facial proportions: a nose design that harmonizes with the forehead, cheekbones, and jawline
Nose tip angle and columella exposure: detailed adjustments that create a natural impression
We aim for a customized nose job that suits your face, rather than simply judging by whether it is “high” or “low.”
Nose surgery is not a field that can be judged by height alone.
Apgujeong Baba Plastic Surgery aims for “balance across the entire face and natural glamour,”
and suggests the nose design that best suits each patient.
