Seoul Orthodontic Clinic: Just Avoiding These Places Means You Won’t Regret Spending Your Money
Hello.
I’m Oh Su-hwan, the chief doctor of Smile D, an orthodontic clinic with 18 years of accident-free practice.

Orthodontic treatment is not a simple procedure that ends in one or two months.
Also, it is not something that costs just a little, so the expense can be a significant burden.
That is why it requires a very careful choice.
The problem is that there are so many orthodontic clinics in Seoul,
but it is hard to be certain which one will be a choice you won’t regret.
Because there are not a few cases where people end up wasting both money and time due to unsatisfactory results...
In today’s post, based on the experience I have built up so far, I’d like to share several important criteria.
Please take a look one by one, like a checklist, at which Seoul orthodontic clinics to avoid and, on the other hand, what trustworthy clinics are like.
Features of Seoul Orthodontic Clinics to Avoid
- Places without an orthodontic specialist on site
Orthodontic treatment is not just simple dental care,
it is a high-level treatment that must also consider tooth alignment and jaw joint function.
For that reason, if you receive treatment from medical staff without enough experience and training,
a satisfactory treatment outcome cannot be guaranteed.
Moreover, orthodontics is a long-term treatment that can take as little as 6 months and as long as 2 or 3 years.
If there is no orthodontic specialist on site,
and treatment is carried out by someone who works only once or twice a week,
there is a chance you may not receive sufficient care.

For example, problems such as braces coming loose or a wire poking the gums can suddenly occur,
and in those moments, you may not be able to receive the necessary treatment right away.
- Places with extremely low orthodontic fees
Low prices may seem attractive,
but because orthodontic treatment is something that stays with you for life, the quality of treatment should come first.
If the fees are excessively low, you should be suspicious at least once.
'Is the clinic hiring a salaried orthodontist to provide treatment?'
'Are the materials of lower quality?'
'Is there insufficient management during the treatment process?'

In most cases that is not the case, but some dental clinics attract patients with discount events,
and once treatment actually begins, there are often cases where follow-up care afterward is lacking.
- Places with a short history
As I mentioned earlier, orthodontic treatment requires a long-term approach.
At a place that opened not long ago, there are many ongoing treatments,
so it can be difficult to evaluate the quality of care provided by the medical staff.

In other words, because the treatment results have not been sufficiently verified, I would say it is better to avoid them.
- Places with short and superficial consultations
Clinics where the treatment plan is unclear from the consultation stage,
or where explanations about the cost are insufficient, are also difficult to trust.
In some places, the treatment plan is explained by the consultation manager...
and those places cannot really be considered good either.
Then, a trustworthy Seoul orthodontic clinic
How can you find one based on what criteria?
Think of the criteria for the clinics to avoid that I just mentioned, but in reverse.
Let me explain in more detail below.
Criteria for finding a trustworthy
Seoul orthodontic clinic
- A place where an orthodontic specialist is on site and provides responsible care
Orthodontics is an independent field that professionally deals with problems of tooth alignment and bite.
To obtain specialist certification, it can only be earned through 6 years of study and 4 years of clinical experience.
If the orthodontic specialist also has many years of practical experience, they are even more trustworthy.

Also, if the doctor in charge is affiliated with the clinic or is the owner,
they are more likely to remain on site and provide responsible care.
- A place with a long history
You cannot judge skill based on history alone.
Still, if a clinic has steadily continued treatment in one location for more than 10 years,
it can be said to have been verified to some extent by the local community.

- A place with sufficient and clear consultations
Before deciding on treatment, a reliable clinic should provide enough information about treatment options and plans,
and help the patient understand them.

- A place where materials and the treatment process are thoroughly managed
Rather than being tempted by a low price,
it is better to check whether the quality of the materials used and the management during treatment are sufficiently maintained.
Also, if after orthodontic treatment is completed, wearing retainers and regular checkups
are continuously managed thoroughly, the clinic can be trusted more.
Orthodontic treatment takes years of time and money.
Please carefully consider the medical staff’s expertise, the clinic’s history, the quality of consultations, reasonable pricing, and aftercare,
and I hope you receive satisfying orthodontic treatment and find a brighter smile.
Thank you. This has been Smile D Dental Clinic.
