If I can just straighten the front teeth
I feel like I’d be satisfied...
Rather than wires, what about clear aligners
that straighten your teeth without being noticeable?
Many people looking into clear aligners for the front teeth may have this concern.
The first worry you’ll probably run into is, ‘How much does clear orthodontic treatment cost?’
And another is the vague anxiety of, ‘Will clear aligners really work?’

Hello.
I am Oh Soo-hwan of Smile D Dental Clinic, an orthodontic specialist who has treated more than 4,000 orthodontic cases.
Because I have focused heavily on front-teeth and protruding-mouth correction, many people visit us with inquiries and consultations.
So in today’s post, based on the cases I have consulted on over the years,
I’ve summarized the treatment process, price, and precautions for clear aligners for the front teeth that people most often ask about.
It’s not a short post, but if you read to the end,
you’ll get a clearer idea of what direction your treatment should take. :)

Front-teeth clear aligners,
what is the process?
Front-teeth clear aligners, as the name suggests, are a treatment that straightens only the 6 to 8 front teeth that show when you smile.
If there are no major problems with the overall bite and you only want to straighten the front teeth, this is a suitable method.
Among clear aligner systems, Invisalign can be considered the leading brand.
Made from a transparent, thin material, it is not very noticeable even when worn,
and its durability and force make it possible to expect high-quality results.
It is also removable, so hygiene management is easy.

The distinctive feature is that it is made in advance.
Based on a 3D analysis of the patient’s dental data,
a treatment scenario optimized for the best result is created,
and then the aligners are manufactured in reverse order,
so the initial diagnosis and design are very important.

That is why we obtain an actual dental model from the patient,
run a simulation,
and then guide them so they can also check the post-treatment scenario.
The replacement interval is usually every 2 to 4 weeks,
and although there is some discomfort each time the aligners are changed,
people usually adapt soon after.
The treatment period can vary depending on each person’s condition, but it is usually around 6 months to 1.5 years.
Precautions for front-teeth clear aligners,
‘Is this possible for me too?’
Clear aligners are removable, meaning they can be taken out and put back in.
That is convenient, of course,
but they need to be worn for more than 20 hours a day to expect results.
The rule is to remove them only briefly when eating or brushing your teeth, and to wear them while sleeping as well.
If you do not follow this well, it becomes difficult for the result to come out properly.
There is also the risk of losing them.
In particular, with Invisalign,
you should also consider that remanufacturing can involve significant cost and time because it is made by the U.S. headquarters.

Meanwhile, clear aligners are an effective treatment method, but they do not apply to every case.
For example, a patient may feel that only the front teeth protrude,
but if a detailed examination shows protruding mouth or malocclusion,
clear aligners alone may not be enough to achieve sufficient improvement.
Wearing Invisalign
Of course, as Invisalign technology has advanced, it can now cover a wider range of cases than before,
but if the problem is severe, using prosthetics may be the more stable option.
If you push too hard with clear aligners, the improvement may not go well and you may need retreatment,
so I recommend consulting to see whether clear aligners are suitable for your case.
How much does clear orthodontic treatment cost?
If you are considering partial orthodontic treatment, most people think, ‘It’s just the front teeth, so it should be cheaper, right?’
However, clear aligners are a digitally based treatment that requires 3D equipment analysis, custom aligner fabrication, and precise simulation,
so simply having a smaller treatment area does not automatically make them cheaper.
That said, because the scope is smaller than full orthodontic treatment,
the cost is often set somewhere between 2.5 million and 6 million KRW.
※ The price may vary depending on the patient’s oral condition and the type of aligner used.

At this point, let me offer just one piece of advice: please also make sure to evaluate the medical staff’s skill, not just the price.
To analyze in advance how your teeth will move over the next 1 to 2 years and make a judgment,
you need the knowledge and know-how of an experienced orthodontic specialist,
so I hope you receive careful treatment at a trustworthy clinic with skilled medical staff.
Our Smile D Dental Clinic aims for delicate, customized orthodontic treatment that considers the patient’s face, smile, and habits as well.
