Questions and answers
about insurance dental implants?
As I often hear many questions about dental implant health insurance from people around me.
Let’s take some time to do a Q&A based on materials provided by the National Health Insurance Service.
Who is eligible
for insurance dental implants?
(1) People aged 65 or older who are insured under National Health Insurance, or their dependents, and
(2) They must have a state of partial edentulism in the upper or lower jaw.
In simple terms, the upper or lower jaw must be missing teeth only partially,
and the procedure is covered only after prior registration with the National Health Insurance Service and receiving treatment.

How many implants
are covered by insurance?
Up to two implants per person for life are covered.
These two do not have to be treated all at once.
Also, if there is a special reason such as discontinuing treatment at the doctor’s judgment, that number will be excluded from the lifetime recognized limit.

Even if surgery is performed,
is insurance coverage for implants
still possible?
No.
Additional procedures such as bone grafting or sinus lifting are non-covered services.
That is because they are based on what is “needed,” not what is “essential.”
You can think of the implant procedure itself as covered by insurance, while only the additional surgery is non-covered.

When insurance is applied,
what is the patient’s copayment rate?
Then you probably wanted to know how much the patient would actually have to pay for implants.
According to data from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, the appropriate price for an implant, excluding bone grafting, is known to be about 1.14 million to 1.28 million won per implant.

The amount paid by eligible National Health Insurance implant patients is 30% of the total treatment cost.
There may be a difference of about 80,000 to 190,000 won depending on the capped amount combined for the abutment and fixture.

Is that all?
✔️ What implant parts, materials, and brands each dental clinic uses
✔️ Whether bone grafting is necessary
✔️ How long the aftercare warranty period is
The cost will also vary depending on these factors.

I do not recommend that you simply look for the cheapest place when getting an implant procedure.
An implant is not just about placing an artificial root; the key is how naturally and stably the prosthesis is made.
If the angle or position is even slightly off,
it may be subjected to excessive occlusal force and inflammation may develop,
which can ultimately lead to the unfortunate situation of having to remove the implant.

For example, at our clinic, I, an orthodontic specialist, the newly joined orthodontic specialist director, and the director of integrated dentistry
personally meet each patient one by one and accurately identify the space where the teeth will be placed from an orthodontic perspective,
creating the most natural angle and position possible.
If you are reading this and want to have an implant placed firmly so it can replace your artificial tooth for a long time,
I recommend visiting a dental clinic with abundant clinical experience and expertise like this.

In this article, we took a close look at insurance for implants.
Here is a brief summary of the main points.
1️⃣ Insurance coverage is available up to two implants per person for life.
---
2️⃣ The implant cost is approximately 1.14 million to 1.28 million won per implant, and the patient copayment rate is 30%.
Because the position and angle of an implant are so important that they can determine the success or failure of treatment,
I emphasize once again that it is better to visit a dental clinic that is skilled in both orthodontics and implants.
Detailed information about our clinic’s treatment and reservation process is available through inquiries, so please check the link below. ^^
I will continue striving until the day I become your lifelong dental care provider.
