Hello!
Treatment through research,
I’m Director Yeo Sang-ho from a dental clinic near Magok Station.
Today, I’d like to introduce
an important point that many people tend to overlook
when choosing an oral healthcare provider:
the type of dental laboratory facility.
Dental clinic near Magok Station
What kinds are there?
They can be broadly divided into two types.
✔ In-house dental lab

A space installed inside the dental clinic
that produces prosthetics only for patients of that medical institution.
The Korean character 실 is used to mean
an internal space or department.
✔ External dental lab
An independent dental lab that operates separately
from the medical institution,
and produces prosthetics by receiving orders
from multiple clinics.
For that reason, the Korean character 소 is used
to emphasize the nature of a company or business.

What is the difference?
First, there is a difference in the time required for production.
✔ In-house dental lab

In the case of an inlay,
completion may be possible on the same day
or within 1 to 2 days.
However, depending on the patient’s oral condition,
treatment schedule, and the operation method of the lab,
the final prosthetic completion period
may vary.
The attending medical staff can explain the patient’s oral characteristics
directly to the dental technician.
Because of this, even the subtle details discovered
during treatment can be communicated,
making it possible to produce a more precise prosthetic.
✔ External dental lab
It usually takes 1 to 2 weeks, including transportation time.
Since the work is carried out only with written instructions and impressions,
there may be limitations in detailed individual customization.
However, skilled technicians who have handled many cases are assigned,
so even complex prosthetic work can be entrusted reliably,
and high-end equipment can be used to improve production quality
even without owning it in-house.
When using an external dental lab,
management tasks related to lab work are outsourced,
allowing the clinic to focus on other dental tasks.
In areas with many office workers, such as the area around Magok Station,
shortening the treatment period often becomes
an important selection criterion.

If there is an in-house dental lab,
same-day temporary tooth fabrication
and fine bite adjustments that may arise during treatment
can also be handled by the dental technician.
Now, I will introduce
how the treatment process proceeds
when care is provided in this way
at a dental clinic near Magok Station.

What is the treatment process?

First, an examination is performed
by looking at X-rays and the inside of the mouth.
In the example photos,
you can see that the gum bone has receded
due to periodontal disease and cavities,
or that the crown of the tooth has disappeared.
Because these problems mean the natural tooth can no longer function,
one option is to extract the tooth and then place an implant.
If fixture placement is selected as the treatment method,
after analyzing the oral information using 3D CT,

first, oral information is obtained
so that a temporary tooth can be made for same-day use.

After confirming that the alveolar bone and the fixture
have sufficiently integrated,
the final prosthetic is fabricated.
※ The completion time for the final prosthetic
may vary depending on the patient’s oral condition,
treatment schedule, and the operation method of the lab.

When fitting the fabricated prosthetic into the mouth,
it is a good idea to check whether it was made in the desired shade
and whether the upper and lower teeth fit together comfortably.
Today’s topic was
the difference between a dental lab and an in-house lab,
and the corresponding implant treatment process.
I hope this was helpful
to those who needed medical information related to this topic,
and I will end the post here.
