Hello, I’m Park Jae-hyun, the head surgeon of Ribbon Plastic Surgery, where I have been meeting you at Exit 1 of Sinsa Station since 2002. ^^

Skin aging is a natural process that inevitably comes with time.
But once the signs start to become more noticeable, it can lower your confidence and bring on stress.
That is especially true in times like these, when there is a strong desire for a youthful and healthy life.
In aesthetic medicine as well, one of the most intensively researched areas recently is anti-aging.
Anti-aging literally means “turning back time.”
Various methods are used for this purpose, but the two main examples are facelift surgery and thread lifting.
A facelift is a surgical lifting procedure in which an incision is made along the hairline, the skin is pulled tight, excess tissue is removed, and the area is sutured.
Thread lifting is a non-surgical lifting procedure in which special threads are inserted into the skin without an incision and used to pull the tissue upward.
A facelift has the advantage of producing a more definite result because tissue is removed, but it does involve the burden of an incision, and recovery tends to be slower than with thread lifting.
On the other hand, thread lifting has a faster recovery time and places less burden on the procedure, but it has a shorter duration of effect than a facelift.
Then what happens if these two methods are combined?
At Ribbon Plastic Surgery, we have spent a long time researching an anti-aging procedure that complements the shortcomings of thread lifting.
In today’s post, I would like to talk in detail about that.

Reasons we recommend the three-step temple lift together with thread lifting
- It can help compensate for the drawbacks of thread lifting.
Thread lifting is a procedure in which threads are inserted into the skin, anchored at specific points, and then pulled upward to improve sagging skin.
It is often compared with methods such as ultrasound, radiofrequency, and laser treatments, but unlike those procedures, which focus more on “tightening,” thread lifting is a treatment that focuses more directly on “lifting.”
The problem is skin bunching that occurs during the process of pulling the threads.
Thread lifting can be used in many areas, but it is commonly applied by anchoring and pulling from the nasolabial folds or the lower cheek area.
Since the threads used here are relatively short, they are inserted between the ear and the cheekbone. As they are pulled, tension can concentrate in this area, making the cheekbones appear more prominent.
If a temple lift is performed at the same time, part of the skin around the temple is removed, which can help prevent skin from bunching up around the cheekbones.
For reference, Ribbon Plastic Surgery also manufactures its own threads, which allows for much smoother results.
- It can improve the longevity of thread lifting.
Thread lifting, by itself, relies only on threads to pull the skin, so compared with surgery, it is true that the results do not last as long.
When a temple lift is performed together, tissue around the temple is removed, pulled tight, and sutured, so the effect is similar to receiving a mini facelift together with thread lifting.
Naturally, the effects of thread lifting also last longer, and patient satisfaction improves as well.

Will there be scars with the three-step temple lift?
“You choose thread lifting instead of surgery because you are worried about scars, so wouldn’t lifting make that pointless?”
Of course, you may think that way.
You chose a procedure because you were 부담 about surgery, but then you are told to combine it with surgery—at that point, wouldn’t it be better to just get a facelift?
However, a temple lift is a very light version of a facelift, and because the incision is made only around the temple area, concern about scarring is not very great.
In particular, Ribbon Plastic Surgery performs the incision in a way that preserves the hair roots, so after a certain recovery period following surgery, hair grows above the incision site and the scar is barely visible.
Of course, there are delicate blood vessels and nerves running through the temple area, so it is important to have the procedure done at a plastic surgery clinic with sufficient experience in consideration of that.

At Ribbon Plastic Surgery, we have consistently performed natural anti-aging treatments, and based on our experience, we provide careful consultations and guide patients only when it is truly necessary.
If you visit us in person, we will help you with a detailed consultation.
