It is an entirely different matter from dealing with the firm, wrinkle-free skin of people in their 20s and 30s.

However, if the sagging skin is too severe and a large amount must be removed, the excised areas may meet too tightly, creating a difference in skin thickness or a deep double eyelid crease, so caution is needed.

2. Lower Eyelid Surgery

Another problem that comes with aging is the bulging of the under-eye area.

Even someone who once looked gentle may feel stressed if the area under the eyes protrudes, because it can give a stubborn or strong impression.

This happens because the lower eyelid tissue stretches, the muscles and conjunctiva loosen, and the fat inside bulges outward.

Areas that do not bulge as much as the protruding fat can look more sunken, creating a hollow tear trough.

In such cases, lower eyelid surgery can be performed to make the under-eye area smooth, even, and elastic.

Lower eyelid surgery can be performed in two ways depending on the degree of sagging and wrinkling of the lower eyelid.

When there is almost no sagging skin or wrinkles, the conjunctiva is incised to remove, redistribute, and fix the unnecessary fat.

Therefore, the advantage is that no external scar is visible.

However, if the sagging skin is severe and the wrinkles remain clearly visible, the area below the lash line is incised, then the fat is repositioned and the skin and muscles are pulled upward for dual fixation.

Because the incision is made in a visible area, it is true that there is more concern about scarring than with a conjunctival incision. However, our clinic reduces this inconvenience by suturing with fine thread so that the scar is hidden by the eyelashes.
