People keep asking me what I’m so tired from.
There are people who have an expression that always looks tired and sleepy.
Unlike simply having droopy eyes, the eyelids sag downward so the eyes look unfocused and lack energy.
To improve this, many people force their eyes open too much or lift them with the muscles between the eyebrows or on the forehead, which often creates wrinkles in those areas.
Many people also look into double eyelid surgery to improve sleepy-looking eyes.
Double eyelid surgery can create a double eyelid line in the middle of the eyelid, giving the effect of a layer of skin folding over.
For people who already have double eyelids, the line can be made a little more defined or reshaped, and for those without double eyelids, the creation of a double eyelid is expected to make the eyes look clearer.
But the problem is that double eyelid surgery does not lift eyes that do not open properly.
Because of that, even after double eyelid surgery, the eye shape may not be corrected, or it may even have the opposite effect.

How can sleepy eyes be improved?
We do not simply call droopy eyes “sleepy-looking.”
We usually say this when the eyes are half-closed or look limp and unfocused.
However, if the eyes look closed even though they do not actually seem sleepy, there is a high chance that the eyelid muscles lack strength and cannot lift the eyelids properly.
In particular, when the skin sags due to aging, the muscles beneath the skin loosen and can cause this problem.
In such cases, this is not only an issue of appearance, but also a functional problem with the eyes.
You may have to lift your head to see ahead clearly, or strain your eyebrows and forehead, leaving deep wrinkles behind.
It can also cause the eyelids to chafe or the eyelashes to poke the eyes, creating discomfort.
At times like this, what strengthens the loosened muscles and helps you open your eyes comfortably is "eyelid correction."

Eyelid correction?
Eyelid correction is a surgery that strengthens the levator muscle of the eyelid.
Eyelid correction is performed more for functional reasons than for cosmetic ones.
It is a procedure done to correct what is commonly called ptosis.
It is performed when the eyelid covers more than 2 mm of the black part of the eye.
There is a non-incision method, which adjusts the levator palpebrae superioris through a small opening without making an incision,
and an incision correction method, which makes an incision, removes some muscle and fat, and then fixes the eyelid levator.
Whether to choose an incision or non-incision method can depend on the shape and characteristics of your eyes.
If the eyelid is thin and the muscle laxity is not severe, correction can be done without an incision.
However, if the eyelid sagging is severe and the ptosis symptoms are pronounced, an incision method should be considered.

Together with double eyelid surgery?
If the sleepy-eyed look is caused not by a muscle problem but by sagging skin that has come down, double eyelid surgery can be the answer.
By making an incision in the sagging area and defining the line, the sagging skin can be improved.
However, among people who come in just for double eyelid surgery, there are also those whose muscle strength has weakened.
If only double eyelid surgery is performed without eyelid correction in such cases, the skin below the line may sag even more, making the sleepy-looking impression worse.
In that case, both procedures are performed at the same time to improve the sagging skin while also strengthening the muscle.
Also, if only eyelid correction is done and the sagging skin is not improved, the muscle may weaken again later, or the scar may become visible depending on the patient.
In such cases, creating a double eyelid can help reduce side effects.
If you do not want a double eyelid, a hidden double eyelid line can also be created. ^^

Eyelid correction targets the muscles beneath the skin.
It is a procedure that can be said to be a little more difficult than double eyelid surgery.
Because of this, we recommend consulting thoroughly with a doctor who has both anatomical knowledge of the face and extensive clinical experience before proceeding.
Also, if the procedure is forced when it is not really necessary, several problems can arise.
Everyone’s eye shape is different.
There are differences in every aspect, including the degree of eyelid sagging, elasticity, and shape.
You should meet a doctor who understands these differences properly and also considers balance and harmony with the face at the same time, so that satisfaction afterward is higher.
