These are the proportions of the ideal vertical length of the face.

For men and Westerners, a ratio of 1 : 1 : 1 for the upper, middle, and lower face looks good.

For East Asian women, when the lower face ratio is around 0.8,

it tends to look youthful, so

this proportion has become more preferred.

The common point here is that the length of the upper face, from the eyebrows to the hairline, and

the length of the middle face, from the eyebrows to the tip of the nose, are the same.

So if you measure the middle face length

and reduce the forehead by the amount beyond that length,

the result will fall short of expectations.

If the forehead is broad and the hairline is where the yellow line and red line meet,

then from the front,

the upper face will appear as long as the yellow line.

So if you reduce the forehead by the length of the yellow line,

from the front, the forehead will still look broad by the length of the blue line.

Therefore, for an ideal result, it is common sense,

but you need to reduce the forehead by the amount of the red line (a).

Now, once you have decided how much to reduce it,

you should not simply cut away the forehead and be done with it.

The layer where the nerves responsible for sensation in the forehead and scalp run must be preserved

so that there is no loss of sensation.

There are 12 cranial nerves from the brain, and the first branch of the fifth nerve is that one.

If a forehead lift needs to pull the forehead toward the top of the head and secure it so it does not sag,

a forehead reduction needs to bring the scalp down toward the forehead and secure it.

The method is either fixation with Endotine

or bone tunneling, followed by fixation with sutures.

I use the second method of fixation,

because during recovery after surgery, there is less scalp pain and foreign-body sensation caused by Endotine.
