You may have heard of entropion.
It is when the eyelid turns inward, and the Korean term is eyelid inward turning.
Synonyms include buan-gyeom and blepharentropion.

Entropion causes certain symptoms.
As the eyelid turns inward, it pushes the lower eyelashes toward the eyeball,
which causes eyelash irritation, where the eyelashes poke the eye.

When the eyelashes poke the eye like this, the cornea can become injured,
tearing may occur, and the eye becomes sensitive to light. Because the eye feels uncomfortable, people also tend to rub it repeatedly.
If the symptoms continue, keratitis or corneal ulcers may develop, and if it becomes severe, it can even lead to vision problems.
This type of entropion may appear in one eye or in both eyes.
In Part 1, I will introduce entropion in one eye, and in Part 2, I will introduce entropion in both eyes.

Right entropion
The first case involved eyelash irritation in the right eye, and surgery was performed for treatment.
The space between the eyes and eyebrows was narrow, so the eyes looked strong, and there was little volume above the eyes, making that area look sunken.
So, to create a brighter eye appearance, we performed the clinic’s signature endoscopic forehead lift
and also carried out micro fat grafting to the upper eyelids.
I have introduced upper-eyelid micro fat grafting in a previous post, so please refer to that if you’d like^-^

Left) normal left eyelid / Right) right entropion

Left) direction of the eyelashes when the left eyelid is normal / Right) direction of the eyelashes when the right eyelid has entropion
The direction of the eyelashes on the normal eyelid is marked with fluorescent purple arrows,
and the direction of the eyelashes on the lower right eyelid with entropion is marked with fluorescent light green arrows.

Left) right entropion / Right) normal left eyelid

Left) direction of the eyelashes when the right eyelid has entropion / Right) direction of the eyelashes when the left eyelid is normal
The direction of the eyelashes on the normal eyelid is marked with fluorescent purple arrows,
and the direction of the eyelashes on the lower right eyelid with entropion is marked with fluorescent light green arrows.
She had been troubled for her entire life by irritation from the right eyelashes,
and when she heard that there was a simple way to solve this, she said she definitely wanted the procedure.
Scars around the eyes become less noticeable over time,
but there is still a slight difference in texture between skin that has had surgery and skin that has not.
So even though the eye with eyelash irritation is on the right, I recommend removing skin on both sides.
This is because the amount of excision can be adjusted differently.
As a result, both eyes look more similar and the sense of difference is reduced.

Left) before surgery / Right) after surgery
The change in direction of the previously normal lower left eyelashes is marked with fluorescent purple arrows and dashed arrows.
You can see that the excision amount was reduced so the direction did not change much.

Left) before surgery / Right) after surgery
The change in direction of the lower right eyelashes, which had entropion, is marked with fluorescent light green arrows and dashed arrows.
You can see that the eyelashes, which were pointing toward the eyeball, have changed direction toward the front.

Left) before surgery / Right) after right entropion surgery, endoscopic forehead lift, and upper-eyelid fat grafting
This is how it looked two months after surgery.
The scar under the eye had improved to the point that it was not easily noticeable.
She was also very relieved that her eyelashes were no longer poking the eye, and regretted not having the procedure sooner. ^-^;;;
The results of the endoscopic forehead lift and upper-eyelid fat grafting were also very satisfying.
If you have eyelash irritation due to entropion, please do not suffer any longer
and I recommend getting surgery.
