Surgical Removal of a Scalp Scar (Feat. W-plasty)

Having a scar on the scalp means there is no hair in that area.

If it is a place that cannot be covered by hair, it may stand out more than other areas.

It is said to be a scar that formed after receiving a forehead implant several years ago.

The arrow in the center marks the scar that formed after the implant was inserted.

Viewed from the crown, it was so large that it seemed like it could not be left alone...

The length is about 5 cm, and the width is about 0.5 cm.

This patient initially came in for forehead implant removal and a forehead lift.

However, the scar on the scalp caught my eye.

It was a problem that could be easily addressed, so I could not simply let the patient leave after only removing the implant and performing the forehead lift.

While designing the forehead lift, I also designed a plan to remove the scar on the scalp.

The blue pen sketch is

called W-plasty, and it is commonly used in plastic surgery when removing scars.

After 7 days, the stitches were removed.
