Hello, this is Director Kim Junhyun of Midline Plastic Surgery.
The skin covering the inner corner of the eye is medically called an epicanthal fold.
This is what people commonly refer to as a Mongolian fold.
When the Mongolian fold is pronounced, the eyes can look small, the distance between the eyes can appear wider, and the face can even look cramped.
When the distance between the eyes is wide, it can give off an avatar-like impression.

This can be simply resolved with epicanthoplasty.
This is a patient who visited because their eyes looked cramped.

The inner corners of the eyes are closed, and the distance between the eyes is wide, creating a cramped impression.
Since the reason for the cramped look was not only the Mongolian fold,
we decided to perform a forehead lift as well.
A forehead lift is effective in all cases where improvement can be achieved by raising the eyebrows, such as
when the space between the eyes and eyebrows is narrow,
when the upper eyelids appear bulging,
or when the eyebrows seem to press down on the eyes.
These photos were taken 5 months after epicanthoplasty and forehead lift surgery.

When the eyes are closed, the lower-positioned double-eyelid scar line from before surgery
became higher after surgery as the eyelids were flattened out.
In this way, the combination of epicanthoplasty + forehead lift naturally improved the eye shape.

The Mongolian fold that made the eyes look wide-set and cramped has been resolved.
The scar is hardly visible as well.
Epicanthoplasty is a very simple procedure, and there is not much to worry about during recovery,
so if you are concerned about a Mongolian fold, feel free to consult with us. ^-^
The feeling of the eyes being pressed down has also been completely improved with the forehead lift.
The stitches were removed on day 7, and there is a photo from the day of removal, so please use it as a reference.
There is less bruising and swelling than expected.
