Hello, this is Dr. Kim Junhyeon from Midline Plastic Surgery. ^^
Although it is part of the brow bone,
especially the bone on the outer side of the brow is commonly called the eye-hole bone.
When the eye-hole bone stands out, it creates a more masculine and strong-looking impression.
Tyson comes to mind for me.

When the eye-hole bone is developed, the eyes are positioned relatively deeper,
so the eyes are better protected from external impact.
This is also why the structures around the eyes of fighting bulls and ordinary bulls are different.

In the past, men with well-developed brow bones did not pay much attention to them,
because looking manly and strong was considered a symbol of masculinity.
But that is not the case these days.
Since people tend to prefer a softer look,
many men are also showing interest in brow bone reduction.
Let alone women—what if a woman has a well-developed eye-hole bone?
It is obvious that it would be even more of a complex than it is for men.
This is a female patient who came in because her eye-hole bone was bothering her.

The brow bone, including the eye-hole bone, looks prominent.
We took a CT scan.

Preoperative CT showing a prominent eye-hole bone
The area around the eye-hole bone is a place where there is no frontal sinus, so it can be sufficiently shaved down.
Brow bone reduction was performed. The eye-hole bone is a bone included in the brow bone.
(The term “eye-hole bone” is not an official medical term ^^;;;;)
We took a CT scan after the surgery.
I will show you the before-and-after comparison side by side for easier viewing.

Before brow bone reduction, the eye-hole bone looks prominent.

After brow bone reduction, the flattened eye-hole bone can be seen.
It is confirmed that the eye-hole bone has become flatter. (yellow arrow)
This is difficult to confirm with X-rays, so it would be best to have the surgery at a hospital that has CT equipment.
These are photos showing the change in the eye-hole bone area before and after surgery.

From the front and at 45 degrees, the appearance has become softer.
This was an explanation of brow bone reduction (eye-hole bone reduction), which shaves down and reduces the protruding eye-hole bone.
