I Want to Get Rid of the Foreign Material Under My Eyes (Radiesse)ㅠ A Plastic Surgeon Explains Cases of Under-Eye Foreign Material Removal

Today, I will talk about under-eye foreign material removal surgery, which restores the under-eye area that became bulged after a Radiesse procedure.

A man came in because he was concerned about dark circles under his eyes. He had received a Radiesse procedure at another hospital two weeks earlier.

After the procedure, he felt a lumpy texture and had even more volume above the tear trough.

He said he looked even more tired than before the procedure.

This was his condition when he visited us after the Radiesse procedure.

The patient had a photo taken before the procedure, so we compared them together.

It was a procedure done because of concern about dark circles under the eyes,

but instead, he was going through emotional distress because of the poor cosmetic result.

He looked puffy compared to before the procedure,

and especially the area under the left eye had become bulged, almost like under-eye fat.

On palpation, a lump was felt to be clumped together.

Radiesse is not a product that is injected directly like a filler in its packaged form.

It is diluted with lidocaine and saline before use,

and at this time, mixing must be done multiple times (more than 20 times)

so that nodular clumping like in today’s case occurs less often.

Because Radiesse cannot be dissolved, patients should not simply be told to wait,

and the likelihood of improvement from waiting alone is also low.

So, while removing it through the conjunctiva,

a fat graft was also performed, taking into account that the area might look slightly sunken.

After foreign material removal

It is important to remove it so that no palpable nodules remain.

We compared the photos before surgery and three months after surgery.

We performed foreign material removal and under-eye fat grafting together,

and he was very happy because his dark circles looked even better than before the procedure. ^^
