Did you all do well in yesterday’s local elections?
It’s nice when there’s a day off in the middle of the week, but it can also feel more tiring because you have to go right back to everyday life after one day off. Still, I find myself wishing there were more public holidays.
So today, we decided to have a delicious lunch.
Not a secret that I always want to eat something tasty!!

#Hanau-dong
Hanau-dong near Apgujeong Station is located on the right side if you go into the alley right after coming out of Exit 4 and walk just a little past the first intersection.
The business hours are every day from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and there is a break time from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., so you need to check the time before visiting.
Hanau-dong, a famous restaurant near Apgujeong Station, became even more well-known after being featured on SBS’s 맛대맛 in the iron plate fried rice segment. Even now, long after that episode aired, people still come here for the iron plate fried rice.
The first time I visited, I didn’t know the iron plate fried rice was famous. I had just heard that it was always crowded and thought I should try it sometime, so I went and only had the cold buckwheat noodles and pork cutlet. But it turned out to be a place famous for its iron plate fried rice.
Of course, the pork cutlet and cold buckwheat noodles are delicious too, so when I visit Hanau-dong, I usually order them together as a set.

After you order, they bring pickled radish and kkakdugi.
Actually, I hardly touch these side dishes because I don’t really need them.... So I can’t really tell you what the kkakdugi tastes like.... I should try it next time I go.

We ordered two servings of iron plate fried rice, pork cutlet, and cold buckwheat noodles.
Just looking at it makes my mouth water. These are really dishes that can’t possibly taste bad.

#Pork cutlet
They have regular pork cutlet and pork cutlet with cheese, and this day we ordered the regular one. It wasn’t bad at all.
The rice that comes with the pork cutlet doesn’t get much attention because of the iron plate fried rice.
So there is a way to use that rice, and I’ll tell you about it in a moment.

As always, the iron plate fried rice is ordered with tuna and ham cheese, and they come out mixed together.
Instead of ordering just one kind for two servings, ordering two different menu items and having them mixed together is a tip for enjoying the iron plate fried rice more deliciously.
If you go to Hanau-dong and plan to have the iron plate fried rice, try ordering different menu items.
When you order, the staff will ask whether it’s okay for it to come mixed together. Then you can just say YES!!

Because once the iron plate fried rice comes out, you’ll want to mix in the egg around the edges and the seaweed flakes on top and eat it that way.
So even if two menu items come out mixed together, it’s not a problem at all.
Rather than ordering two servings of just one item, ordering two different kinds lets you enjoy a slightly richer flavor.
If you feel the seasoning is a little strong, just mix in the white rice that comes with the pork cutlet and the taste will be just right.

For some reason, when summer comes, I get the urge to eat cold buckwheat noodles.
I don’t know why.
On days when the sunlight is strong, I naturally feel like I should order cold buckwheat noodles from places that sell #cold buckwheat noodles.
There isn’t really anything special about Hanau-dong’s cold buckwheat noodles.
But the broth isn’t as strongly seasoned as I expected, so it pairs really well with the strongly seasoned iron plate fried rice.
