In modern society, where appearance has become a competitive advantage, first impressions and appearance inevitably have a decisive impact on how trust is formed with others. As a result, many people consider cosmetic surgery in order to make a good impression. As perceptions of cosmetic procedures have changed, there has been a tendency to take them lightly. Because the eyes can have a big impact with even a small change, it is important to look into things clearly before planning eye surgery.
To achieve satisfying results in both aesthetic and functional aspects, paying attention to the precautions after eye surgery can help the double eyelid line settle in place.

Precautions After Eye Surgery: Taking Medication & Eye Ointment
As part of the precautions after eye surgery, the medications prescribed after surgery are antibiotics, a stomach protector, and pain relief anti-inflammatory medication, and you must purchase the medicine on the day of surgery. We also explain how to take the medication at our clinic, but you should take it for 3 days according to the instructions provided by the pharmacy.
An eye ointment is also prescribed along with the medicine.
The prescribed eye ointment contains steroids and antibiotics, which help reduce inflammation and kill bacteria, so it should be used 3 to 4 times a day. The key is to apply it thinly with a clean cotton swab.
Precautions After Eye Surgery: Compresses
One of the most concerning issues after eye surgery is swelling. On average, major swelling subsides after one week, and minor swelling takes about one month. Therefore, if you manage the area by following the precautions after eye surgery, you can recover more quickly. Of course, the degree of swelling or bruising may vary depending on the condition of the skin around the eyes and your own constitution.
Until the third day after eye surgery, use cold compresses, and from the fourth day onward, use warm compresses. It is good to apply compresses frequently, and we recommend doing them at least 3 times a day.
When applying a compress, it is safest to place gauze or tissue over the area first to reduce irritation to the skin around the eyes before using a cold compress. It should not be too cold; use it only to the extent that the coolness remains on the surgical area. For warm compresses, do not make them so hot that you sweat; it is better to keep them comfortably warm.

Precautions After Eye Surgery: Cleansing and Showering
Among the precautions after eye surgery, the part many people are most curious about is cleansing and showering. Showering was possible from the day of surgery. However, the surgical area must not come into contact with water.
When cleansing your face, be careful to avoid the area around the eyes so that water does not touch the surgical site, and after the stitches are removed, you can gently wash your face starting the next day without rubbing your eyes.
Precautions After Eye Surgery: Makeup and Contact Lenses
When explaining the precautions after eye surgery, many people want to resume makeup and wearing contact lenses quickly.
However, it is best not to wear makeup for about 2 weeks after eye surgery. Regular makeup can be resumed after 2 weeks, but eye makeup is best postponed until after one month.
Contact lenses should also be worn only after at least 2 weeks have passed.
This is because resuming makeup and contact lenses too soon can irritate the eyes.

Precautions After Eye Surgery: Smoking & Drinking
As part of the precautions after eye surgery, it is best to avoid smoking and drinking. These should be strictly avoided for one month after surgery. Smoking or drinking can cause inflammation and interfere with blood circulation, delaying recovery of the surgical area.
Precautions After Eye Surgery: Daily Life
Saunas, steam rooms, and half-body baths that can cause warmth may slow recovery, so they are only possible after one month following eye surgery.

Precautions After Eye Surgery: When Sleeping
As a precaution after eye surgery, you should not sleep face down. Also, when sleeping, supporting your head with a pillow or blanket to keep the affected area above heart level can help reduce swelling.
Precautions After Eye Surgery: Eye-Opening Exercises
As a precaution after eye surgery, you should practice opening your eyes. If you keep your eyes too closed and remain still, swelling will go down more slowly, and for a natural eye shape and swelling reduction, it is important for 3 weeks after surgery to keep your eyebrows from lifting and open your eyes clearly using only the muscles around the eyes. Even if swelling prevents you from opening your eyes wide, do not worry; after pressing your forehead with your hand, it is better to practice.

Precautions After Eye Surgery: Exercise
Walking or light strolling was possible starting 2 days after surgery.
Strenuous exercise that causes you to grimace, such as swimming, working out, or mountain climbing, is best done starting one month after eye surgery.
Precautions After Eye Surgery: Things to Be Careful About
As a precaution after eye surgery, you should consciously avoid habitually rubbing the area around your eyes, and it is also best to be careful with habits that cause the eyes to swell a lot.
I have explained the precautions after eye surgery. If you have any other questions, please contact the clinic.
