If you’re planning a trip, deciding what to do and where to go is probably the most exciting part. And if the place you carefully researched and visited turns out to be just right, that’s incredibly satisfying too. To avoid ruining a fun trip, I searched and searched until I successfully finished my Taean Anmyeondo trip. If you’re going to Taean Anmyeondo, there’s one restaurant I definitely want to recommend: Yeongsiminae Mandubapjip. The word "Yeongsiminae" felt familiar, and when I visited, I found a cartoon image that explained why it felt so familiar to me.
Yeongsiminae Mandu Rice Restaurant
Yeongsiminae, located at 114-24 Jangteo-ro, Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, opens at 5 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m., so many people visit for breakfast.

As Yeongsiminae Mandubapjip is a good place for breakfast during a Taean Anmyeondo trip, it has a variety of menu items. I heard that kimchi stew and pork stew made with house-made kimchi, as well as alpine stream clam hangover soup packed with wild freshwater snails, are popular morning hangover-curing dishes.

As the name Yeongsiminae Mandubapjip suggests, I thought this was a place where dumplings were the main item, so I ordered dumplings. As expected, the dumplings were steamed and had such thin skins that you could see the filling. Dumplings made with skins this thin are surely handmade!!! Since they steam the dumplings after the order is placed, I think you can enjoy them even more. As you can tell from the color, these are kimchi dumplings. You might think the kimchi flavor would be strong, but it wasn’t that overpowering. Besides kimchi, they also contained bean sprouts and tofu, making them handmade kimchi dumplings with a nice chewy texture.

We also ordered bibim noodles, which are naturally a perfect match for dumplings. I thought they might be a little spicy because they are mixed, but the sweet and tangy flavors were stronger than the heat. I think the sourness probably comes from the pickled radish. Yeongsiminae, a local favorite in Taean Anmyeondo, is generally not very spicy, so it seems like a good place to eat on an empty stomach.

If you’re traveling to Taean Anmyeondo by public transportation, this seems like a great place to stop by before heading to the intercity bus terminal and grab a bite of dumplings.
Omanjage Iseo
You might wonder why I stopped by a place like this during a Taean Anmyeondo trip, but Omanjage Iseo can be considered one of Anmyeondo’s hot spots. Just as you stop by a 100-yen shop when traveling in Japan, if you’re visiting Taean Anmyeondo, I recommend checking out Omanjage Iseo, a place that feels like a paradise for small shopping finds. Unlike Daiso, it isn’t neatly organized, but it’s an Anmyeondo discount store selling such a wide variety of items that you can’t help but say, “Wow, they have this too?”

Omanjage Iseo in Anmyeondo is on the first floor at 19 Jangteo-ro, Anmyeon-eup, Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. It is a 1-minute drive or a 2-minute walk from Yeongsiminae, and since it’s on the way to the intercity bus terminal, it’s the perfect stop for a quick look around before heading there. After all, the trip should continue until the very end of your time in Taean Anmyeondo.
