All-You-Can-Eat Lamb Skewers + Sweet and Sour Pork at Ran Gui Fang in Gangnam

There are days like that, right? Days when it feels like you could eat endlessly!! On days like that, I naturally end up looking for all-you-can-eat places or buffets. Rather than going to a mediocre buffet, all-you-can-eat feels like the better choice. So I picked an all-you-can-eat lamb skewer place. There are quite a few popular lamb skewer all-you-can-eat spots in Gangnam, but if you go in the evening, it gets crowded. This place is more comfortable to eat at if you go after the weekend daytime rush, so when I’m craving lamb skewers, I come here.

The first time I went to Ran Gui Fang, it was just an all-you-can-eat lamb skewer place, but when I visited again after a long time, it was bundled together with sweet and sour pork.

Gangnam lamb skewers and sweet and sour pork all-you-can-eat Ran Gui Fang can be enjoyed as an all-you-can-eat meal or ordered à la carte, but out of 10 people who visit here, 10 out of 10 will go for the all-you-can-eat option. At 25,000 won per person for all-you-can-eat lamb skewers and sweet and sour pork, I don’t think the price is too high either. When you go for lamb skewers, don’t you usually end up eating at least two servings per person?! Maybe it’s just people around me... or... not...?

When ordering at Ran Gui Fang, they ask whether it’s your first time using the service. I said I had been there before, and they didn’t bring the lamb skewers for me. When I visited for the first time, they brought out the skewers after I ordered, so I thought that was just how it worked. But that wasn’t the case. They only bring them out the first time because it can feel unfamiliar.

Even though it’s an all-you-can-eat lamb skewer place, there are more skewer types than you might expect, and there are three kinds of lamb skewers as well, which makes choosing fun.

When you come for lamb skewers, there are side dishes you just can’t pass up. They had roasted peanuts, zha cai, and pickled onions. I really don’t think about roasted peanuts in my daily life, but when I come here to eat lamb skewers and wait for them to cook, I don’t know why I end up eating so much of them.

The cumin seasoning that tastes a bit like ramen soup powder is brought out by the owner. If you need more, you have to ask again. In addition to the cumin seasoning, cumin seeds are placed on the table, so you can add more to suit your taste.

I only brought enough for the first round to put on the grill. Personally, I think the pork belly part is the tastiest.

Ran Gui Fang in Gangnam offers all-you-can-eat lamb skewers and sweet and sour pork, but because I was so busy eating the lamb skewers, I don’t think I’ve ever refilled the sweet and sour pork even once. But this is something that differs from person to person. A friend of mine said they keep refilling the sweet and sour pork here and eat more of that than the lamb skewers. You could say this is a good sweet and sour pork spot.

I took the well-cooked lamb off the skewer and dipped it into a sauce with cumin seasoning and a small amount of cumin seeds, then ate it. Even though it’s all-you-can-eat, the place is very popular, so the meat turnover is good, and there was no odd smell at all. Since lamb is one of those foods that’s easy to digest, even if you eat a lot at an all-you-can-eat place and feel full, it doesn’t seem to sit heavy.
