Misconceptions and Truths About Eye Surgery
Hello.
This is Iho Plastic Surgery, back again as EH.
The eyes can create a positive impression with even small changes, so many people decide to undergo eye surgery and look into a variety of information. If you examine eye surgery, you can see that there are many different types. Since everyone has different inner eye shapes, outer eye angles, and eye lengths, and because the eyes are paired organs, it is important to achieve symmetry and balance. Therefore, it is necessary to gather enough information and determine which procedure is appropriate for you. In order to improve in the right direction amid a flood of information, let’s take some time to look at the misconceptions and truths about eye surgery.
As online communities have developed, many people share a lot of information on the internet. If you apply information about eye surgery to yourself, it may be incorrect information. The reason is that although it may be theoretically correct, each person has different eye shapes, eye conditions, and facial features, so it cannot be considered information that is right for everyone.

Therefore, even if you gather various pieces of information in preparation for eye surgery, it is important to determine whether they are suitable for you. It is best to choose the appropriate process through sufficient consultation with a specialist. If you have questions while reviewing information, you can write them down and ask them. That way, you can clear up your concerns and check whether they are suitable for you, so making a list of questions is also a good approach.

Many people think that just having double eyelid surgery
will make the eyes bigger.
Is that true?

It’s half and half.

You may think that creating a double eyelid makes the eyes look more refreshed. However, in cases where a double eyelid line is formed to improve a tired-looking eye shape and the line is set high to match the patient’s needs, if the person has weak eyelid-opening strength, the eyelid muscles may actually become weaker, and instead of the eyes looking clearer, they may appear half-open. That is why we cannot say that double eyelid surgery always makes the eyes bigger, so we can only say it is half and half.
Saying that the eyes become bigger is, in a sense, a subjective expression. Even if the pupil is partly covered and the eyes appear half-open, a high double eyelid line may still be described as refreshing, large, and attractive. From a specialist’s perspective, however, double eyelid surgery should be performed while correcting the part where weak eyelid-opening strength prevents the eyes from opening within a normal range.

If you have eye surgery, it becomes too artificial and noticeable.
Is that true?

It looks beautiful and noticeable!!

Many people think that non-incisional buried-suture methods do not look noticeable, while incisional methods do. That is absolutely not the case.
Non-incisional methods form a double eyelid line through small openings, while incisional methods proceed by removing skin, so compared to non-incisional methods they may appear less natural. However, if the procedure is performed with careful suturing and proper aftercare is provided, concerns about scarring can be reduced, and natural-looking results can be achieved over time. Therefore, it is difficult to say that a procedure is noticeable or not simply based on the surgical method.

Rather, if an artificial look appears after eye surgery, it is because unnecessary procedures were performed, resulting in an unnatural appearance.

There is a saying that eye surgery lasts a lifetime.
Is one surgery really enough?

Yes!! It lasts a lifetime.

After eye surgery, the double eyelid line can remain for a lifetime. However, even people who naturally have a double eyelid line may have it loosen if they rub their eyes or subject them to external irritation, and as they age and the skin sags, the line may become hidden. Likewise, even a line created through double eyelid surgery can disappear if it is irritated.

Even if, over time after eye surgery, the skin sags and the line becomes hidden, if you feel it is okay, there is no need to do anything. However, if it bothers you and the double eyelid line has come undone, it can be done again.
A surgically created double eyelid line can remain over time, but depending on your desired goal, you may choose to try again or not.

Many people hesitate because of the cost of eye surgery.
Is it really a major burden?

It is natural human psychology to want the best results at a reasonable cost, so it is only right to pursue that. However, what matters most is receiving very good service at an appropriate price.
In the case of eye surgery, since it is a common procedure, the price range is set quite broadly. There must be a reason for the price differences.

Because it is a surgery that many people around you have had, you may decide to go ahead with it thinking it might be fine even at a cheaper place. However, if you end up considering revision surgery because of an unwanted result, the cost can increase by two to three times or more, and it also takes time. That is why, when having the first surgery, it is important to check the medical team’s experience, know-how, and aftercare system, and proceed at an appropriate price.

Since eye surgery is a common procedure you can easily hear about from people around you, it is easy to obtain a variety of information. However, just as appearances differ, eye shape, eye structure, skin thickness, amount of fat, eyelid-opening strength, and other factors all differ, so not all information can be applied to you. Therefore, when it comes to determining the exact surgical method and design for yourself, meeting with a specialist and making the judgment together is the most accurate approach.
