Garnet Plastic Surgery CEO Dr. Insoo Baek's
Doctor's Note

Hello^^ I’m Dr. Insoo Baek, a board-certified plastic surgeon and CEO of Garnet Plastic Surgery.
Today, I’d like to introduce a case of a patient with a hump nose who naturally improved the hump through rhinoplasty without implants.

Reason for Surgery
This patient did not have a particularly low nasal bridge height,
and wanted to increase the nose mainly at the tip.
Because of the hump, the nose gave a strong impression.
During a consultation at another hospital, they were told that the hump would need to be shaved down
and covered with thin silicone.
However, they did not want to use an implant for rhinoplasty,
and while looking for a way to have surgery without silicone,
they came to our clinic.
Preoperative Diagnosis

The overall height of the nose is fairly adequate, but there is a hump,
and from the side, it lacks a feminine line.
As a result, it gave a strong impression.
Surgical Method

In rhinoplasty for a nose with a hump, once the tip is raised,
the irregularity of the bridge becomes more noticeable.
So a slight hump should be smoothed out,
and any depressed areas should be filled in.
But since silicone is not used,
cartilage from the ear is sculpted to fill the depressed areas.
The human nose has many subtle asymmetries, including slight curvature,
and these factors must also be carefully addressed.
Postoperative Progress

From the front, the subtle asymmetries have been improved,
and from the side and at a 45-degree angle, the hump is gone,
revealing a feminine and soft side profile.
In Closing...

Today, we looked at implant-free rhinoplasty for people whose overall nasal height is not low,
but who want rhinoplasty without using an artificial implant such as silicone.
Thank you.
