Doctor’s Note

Hello! I’m Baek In-su, a board-certified plastic surgeon and the director of Garnet Plastic Surgery.
This is the case of a woman in her early 30s who visited the clinic because she was concerned about dark circles under her eyes.

Reason for surgery
She said that while visiting clinics for consultation to improve her dark circles, she received a wide variety of recommendations.
She was told by many clinics to try fillers, skin boosters, Rejuran, threads, and other treatments under the eyes.
Of course, the treatments above can help reduce dark circles.
However, the best solution is to address the under-eye fat, which is the fundamental cause of under-eye dark circles.
Preoperative diagnosis

In the preoperative appearance, the area under the eyes looks generally dark and hollow.
The under-eye fat pads have lost elasticity, and the tear trough is also visible.
The patient said it was stressful because she looked older than her actual age.
In addition, she felt her face looked flat because she did not have aegyo-sal.
Surgical process

During surgery, the procedure is performed through the conjunctiva under the eyes rather than through the outer skin, and it is comfortably done under sedation for about 30 to 40 minutes.
Because it is a conjunctival incision, there are no stitches to remove later.
Although the surgery is performed through the narrow field of the conjunctiva, the tear trough must be delicately dissected and the under-eye fat repositioning must be done thoroughly to achieve a satisfying result. In addition, a small amount of fat grafting was performed to create aegyo-sal.
Postoperative progress

The dark circles under the eyes improved significantly, making the under-eye area look cleaner and younger.
In addition, the aegyo-sal was enhanced, giving the eyes a brighter appearance.
Wrapping up..

To improve dark circles, you may look into many different methods such as fillers, lasers, minimally invasive procedures, and thread injections.
However, under-eye fat repositioning is the most reliable and effective method.
I hope this 'under-eye fat repositioning' case will be very helpful for those with similar concerns.
Thank you ^^
