Hello.
This is Dana Plastic Surgery.
If you have decided to undergo a hair transplant, you will likely have many concerns about the surgical method.
Hair transplant surgery is divided into incision and unshaven hair transplant methods, and
in recent years, compared with incision hair transplants,
many people have chosen the unshaven method because it causes less pain and does not leave a linear scar.
However, one of the biggest concerns with unshaven hair transplants is shaving.
Today, we will look at the types of shaving methods used during unshaven hair transplant surgery.

The types of shaving include:
-
Full shave
-
Marine-style shave
-
Partial shave
-
Two-block shave
-
Line shave
-
No shave
and so on.

- Full shave
A full shave means shaving the entire head.
With a full shave, the doctor has a wider field of view,
and because hair does not get in the way,
the procedure can be much more comfortable.
The downside is that the entire head must be shaved.

- Marine-style shave
A marine-style shave is a method in which the lower part of the hair is shaved to 1 mm and the upper part to 9 mm.
In this case, the hair grows back quickly, making it easy to cover the unshaven punch marks.
- Partial shave
A partial shave is a box-shaped shave.
If the center of the head is shaved in a box shape and the upper hair is let down, the shaved area is covered by the hair.
To do a partial shave, the hair must be quite long.
Because of this, partial shaving is more advantageous for women, whose longer hair makes it easier to cover the area.
- Two-block shave
The two-block cut is also one of the shaving methods,
and as the two-block cut has become popular, it is a good way to hide the fact that you had surgery.
- Line shave
A line shave refers to shaving in the form of lines.
When 600 to 800 or more follicles are extracted in a line during a line shave,
it leaves a look similar to an incision scar, so it is not desirable. (Individual results may vary.)
Line shaving is generally not recommended,
and at Dana Plastic Surgery, it was performed for a period about 10 years ago, but it is no longer used.
- No shave
No shave means a method in which the hair is not shaved.
With no-shave surgery, the scar is dispersed, and follicles in better condition can be selected and harvested,
and because it does not show after surgery, you can return to daily life immediately.
However, in the case of unshaven hair transplant surgery,
it requires the doctor’s extensive experience and surgical know-how,
so when choosing a clinic, please carefully look into these aspects.
Dana Plastic Surgery has
a variety of equipment, know-how, and skill for unshaven procedures,
and after a long period of trial and error, has developed a technique that is drawing attention both in Korea and overseas.
I will cover this in detail in a future post,
and today we looked at the types of shaving methods used in unshaven hair transplant surgery.
There are a total of six types of unshaven shaving methods,
so please think carefully about the features, advantages, and disadvantages of each method
and choose the shaving method that suits you best to achieve a good surgical result.
