What is hairlessness?

It refers to a condition in which, although other physical development according to secondary sexual characteristics is normal,

pubic hair is absent or sparse even after puberty. 

Pubic hair development is associated with

male hormones, female hormones, and adrenal cortical hormones,

endocrine factors,

and racial and genetic factors.

Director Kim Narae said that the causes of hairlessness include

congenital factors and acquired factors.

Congenital factors include cases in which pubic hair does not grow along with secondary sexual characteristics,

and acquired cases may occur after menopause or for other reasons.  

Then, does hairlessness really need to be treated?

In response, Director Kim Narae said that hairlessness does not actually cause functional, hygienic, or health problems,

but if someone is experiencing mental distress due to hairlessness (or sparse pubic hair),

they may be a candidate for treatment. 

Among younger generations who wax or remove hair,

a lack of pubic hair may feel more convenient,

and some may even see it as saving the cost of hair removal or waxing.
