Precautions Before and After Hair Transplant Surgery
Hello
This is Dana Plastic Surgery.
Today,
we will take a look at the precautions before and after hair transplant surgery
together with Director Jeong Jae-hong of Dana Plastic Surgery.
.
.
■ Precautions Before Surgery

- It is recommended to stop medications that may affect bleeding 1 to 2 weeks before surgery
(vitamins, Gingko-min, health supplements, etc.)
Director Jeong Jae-hong said that
as the first precaution before hair transplant surgery,
medications that may affect bleeding (vitamins, Ginkgo-min, health supplements, etc.) should be stopped
1 to 2 weeks before surgery.

- Blood pressure medication may be taken
Second,
blood pressure medication that you have been taking may be continued.

- Stop aspirin / warfarin
Third,
for those who are taking aspirin/warfarin due to cardiovascular disease or other issues,
in the case of aspirin,
it is recommended to stop taking it 5 to 7 days before hair transplant surgery,
and for warfarin, to stop taking it 3 days before surgery.

- Hair loss medications in the finasteride/dutasteride class may be continued
Fourth,
hair loss medications in the finasteride and dutasteride classes
may be continued.
Representative examples include
Propecia, Avodart,
Pantogar, and Panthydryl.

- No drinking and no smoking
Fifth, this is something many people wonder about.
We recommend no smoking and no drinking starting 3 days before hair transplant surgery,
but for graft survival rate and postoperative outcomes,
we recommend abstaining from alcohol and smoking for more than 3 days.

- Inform the hospital in advance about injection allergies
In the case of injection allergies,
please be sure to inform the hospital in advance.
So far, we have looked at the 6 precautions before hair transplant surgery.
From here, we will look at the precautions after hair transplant surgery.

■ Precautions After Surgery

- Never touch the transplanted area
Director Jeong Jae-hong said that
as the first precaution after surgery,
never touch the transplanted area.
If you keep touching the transplanted area with your hands,
bacteria may infect the transplanted area,
which can cause inflammation,
and the transplanted hair that has not yet stabilized may fall out.

- Scabs after surgery will naturally come off while shampooing after 10 days,
so do not pick them off intentionally
After hair transplant surgery, scabs
naturally come off while shampooing after 10 days.
Do not try to pick them off by hand,
as this may cause unwanted inflammation or infection.

- Avoid using hot air dryers for 2 weeks
To prevent heat damage caused by hot air to the transplanted area,
you should avoid using hot air dryers for 2 weeks.

- Avoid strenuous exercise
If you sweat and heat builds up on the scalp,
it may affect the graft survival rate in the transplanted area,
so it is best to avoid strenuous exercise after surgery.

- Apply cold compresses away from the transplanted area
If you apply a cold compress after surgery,
it is best to do so away from the transplanted area.
Some people apply cold compresses to the transplanted area
because of itching or a feeling of heat,
but this may have a negative effect on the transplanted area,
so it is better to refrain from doing so.
