Hello, this is Dana Plastic Surgery.
Today, we will take a look at the anesthesia methods used during hair transplantation and the advantages and disadvantages of each method 😊

There are three anesthesia methods used during hair transplantation.
-
A method that uses sedation anesthesia for a long time
-
A method that uses a small amount of sedation anesthesia only when applying local anesthesia
-
A method that does not use sedation anesthesia at all and uses only local anesthesia

Local anesthesia is included whether or not sedation anesthesia is used.
Because the transplanted area, the area where a scalpel is used, or where a needle is inserted is painful,
anesthesia must be applied to those areas.

When local anesthesia is administered, the needle itself can be painful.
That is why sedation anesthesia is used to make the process of local anesthesia easier.

However, even after local anesthesia has been given,
some patients are sensitive to sounds in the operating room, such as the sound of the pulse monitor running, the sensation or sound of the blade cutting the skin, and other sounds related to the incision.

So, because some people say that they could hear all the cutting sounds, got goosebumps, or had a really hard time,
starting with sedation anesthesia can make the surgery proceed more comfortably 😊

Also, from the medical team’s perspective, if the patient is awake,
they may keep moving and the surgical area may change,

so if sedation anesthesia is used, it seems to have the advantage of allowing the team to focus only on the surgery and perform it well.
The anesthesia method can be chosen according to what suits you best,
but if you are sensitive to sounds or touch, it may be a good idea to proceed with sedation anesthesia so you can undergo the surgery more comfortably.
