Hello, this is Dana Plastic Surgery 😊
When hair loss has progressed significantly during a hair transplant and there is not enough hair available for harvesting from the back of the head,
beard hair can also be used for hair transplantation.
We will take some time to talk about the questions many people have about beard hair transplants.

Among the many questions people have about beard hair transplantation,
"If beard hair is transplanted to the head, won't it look unnatural?"
"It's coarse—will it grow the same way?"
"Won't it look awkward if beard hair is used for a hair transplant?"
"What about scars where the beard hair was removed?"
and so on.

Beard hairs are mostly single hairs,
while scalp hair is a mix of 1 to 3 hairs per graft.
Although beard hair is usually single-hair, each strand is thicker, so it provides very good coverage of the scalp.

However, because each beard hair strand is thick,
it is not commonly used in the front hairline and is mainly transplanted into the crown area.

Also, when beard hair and scalp hair are transplanted together,
it can look so natural that it is impossible to distinguish a specific hair type (beard hair).

In theory, this is another possibility to consider.
If you think you have already harvested as much as possible from the back of your head,
it is also possible to transplant beard hair to the back of the head and then transplant hair from the back of the head to the frontal balding area.

Beard transplantation is also a very good option for covering scars from both incision and non-incision procedures at the back of the head.
Today, we took some time to talk about beard hair transplantation.
If there is not enough hair at the back of the head, beard hair can be used as an alternative as well, so after a consultation,
we recommend proceeding with surgery using the method that suits you best.
