Hello, this is Dana Plastic Surgery.
Today, let’s take some time to learn about crown hair loss :)
What causes crown hair loss?

Most male hair loss is either an M-shaped receding hairline or crown hair loss.
M-shaped hair loss refers to hair loss that progresses in an M shape along the forehead hairline,
and crown hair loss refers to hair loss that progresses from the back area, around the crown.

Many people do not realize that crown hair loss has occurred,
and there were also quite a few cases where they came in after hearing it from people around them.

The causes of crown hair loss and M-shaped hair loss are genetics and hormones.
The difference between crown hair loss and M-shaped hair loss is the location where the hair loss occurs.
What is the difference between alopecia areata and crown hair loss?

Many people ask whether crown hair loss can be called alopecia areata because it also falls out in a circular pattern.
However, alopecia areata is a completely different condition.

Crown hair loss refers to male-pattern hair loss that occurs around the crown,
while alopecia areata is hair loss that usually occurs on the back of the head or on body hair.
Alopecia areata is part of an autoimmune disease,
where cells such as white blood cells are supposed to attack bacteria or virus cells that enter from outside,
but instead attack the hair on your own body, causing hair loss.
