Profound is a very expensive treatment, costing several million won per session, so for good results without side effects, it is important to understand it properly!!

What is the most important condition for getting effective results from Profound??

This is a common factor not only with Profound, but with all energy-based lifting devices (EBDs)...

It is the total amount of energy delivered into the skin.

This is the standby screen for Profound. It shows that radiofrequency energy is delivered from the tip of the needle at 67 degrees for 3 seconds.

Of course, the temperature can be adjusted from 50 to 75 degrees, and the RF conduction time can also be adjusted from 3 to 5 seconds during treatment,

When Profound is performed with a dermal tip for lifting the mid-to-lower face and double chin, most clinics use a standard setting of 67 degrees / 3 to 4 seconds.

This is because when the temperature is maintained at 67 degrees for 3 to 4 seconds, collagen is appropriately and partially denatured, producing the best results.

If these energy values are set, what is the remaining variable?

It is the number of shots.

Both Ulthera and Thermage have shot counts such as 300 or 600, depending on the energy. Dividing the number of shots means that the total amount of energy delivered beneath the skin is just as important.

Like other devices, Profound also needs to deliver enough energy to the dermis with a sufficient number of shots to achieve proper lifting results.

At our clinic, we have set our own standard that the minimum number of shots for the mid-to-lower face and double chin is "500 shots."

There may be slight differences depending on face shape or size, but this conclusion was made based on an adult woman with a standard facial size.

Based on a standard female face, if treatment is performed at 4 mm intervals, about 100 shots are needed for one side of the mid-to-lower face.

Therefore, going over both cheeks and the double chin once (1 pass) is about 250 shots, and going over them twice (2 pass) is about 500 shots.

Because Profound has such powerful effects, if the clinician loses concentration and the needle tip is not fully inserted into the skin, there is a very high risk of burns.

That is why this is a treatment that requires constant concentration, and increasing the number of shots makes the procedure take longer and become more difficult ㅠㅠ.
