Hello. This is Lifton Dermatology Clinic.
There are many types of procedures that add volume to sunken areas, and I’d like to briefly explain the Jamber thread, which is being used frequently these days.

Jamber threads are twisted into a spring-like shape and are made of a material called PDO. They are naturally broken down in the body over about six months, while inducing the production of collagen around the thread.
As a result, they can immediately fill in depressed areas or wrinkles and, over time, help improve elasticity and volume.

They were previously sold under the name Caven thread, but Jamber threads were developed to improve issues with Caven threads, such as the needle-like tip that could cause bruising due to blood vessel damage during insertion, as well as the tendency for the thread to lose its shape and loosen inside the tissue.
The people for whom they are most recommended are:
Those who want to fill sunken areas but are uncomfortable with fat grafting or filler,
Those who want to use them together with filler to reduce the amount of filler needed,
Those who want to fill the area with tissue their body creates rather than a substance injected from outside.
When a large amount of filler is injected into an area with a lot of movement, it can sometimes migrate into the surrounding tissue. In such cases, combining it with Jamber threads can reduce the amount of filler needed, and the Jamber threads can serve as support pillars that hold the filler in place within the tissue, which is why they are often used together.
Of course, even when used alone, volume gradually builds up over time, so a natural improvement effect can also be expected.

They can improve various areas such as nasolabial folds, the jawline, under-eye wrinkles, crow’s feet, glabellar wrinkles, and hollow cheeks.

The area most commonly treated is, of course, the hollowing of the nasolabial fold area.
For the procedure, after local anesthesia is applied to the area where the thread will be inserted, the thread can be inserted with no major discomfort other than a foreign-body sensation, and you can return to daily life right away.
However, Jamber threads alone do not solve every case, so it is best to make a treatment plan through a consultation before proceeding.
