Hello, this is Lifton Dermatology.
One of the dermatology procedures that has been getting a lot of attention these days is Ulthera Prime.

Also called Ulthera 2 or Ulthera Prime, this device
has been upgraded for the first time in 9 years since 2016, and because the original Ulthera has been so popular, inquiries about it seem to be increasing as well.
Since our clinic was one of the first to introduce it, we have also been receiving more patient inquiries.
Today, I’d like to introduce a few of the questions we hear most often.
In fact, many patients ask about the difference between Ulthera and Ulthera Prime.
As a dermatologist, I’d like to explain how the upgraded Ulthera Prime differs from the original Ulthera based on my own experience using it and what I have observed.

The basic principle of Ulthera and Ulthera Prime is the same.
It delivers high-intensity focused ultrasound to the SMAS layer to create thermal coagulation points, thereby stimulating collagen regeneration and tissue contraction to produce a lifting effect.
The biggest feature of Ulthera is that it lets you see while you treat.
It uses ultrasound to accurately identify the internal structures, recognize the areas that need to be treated, and then deliver the shots. This is a patented technology found only in Ulthera.
It is called the DeepSee function.
Ulthera Prime has the same basic principle as Ulthera, but this DeepSee function has been improved.
Unlike the original Ulthera, which could only be confirmed up to 4.5 mm, Ulthera Prime can reach up to 8 mm with ultrasound, allowing observation of deeper layers.
This makes more precise treatment possible. As a result, even patients who have been receiving Ulthera regularly and felt that the effects were no longer as good as at first may be able to expect satisfying results by using the improved Ulthera Prime.

The larger screen is another feature that users can intuitively notice.
With a display area that is 35% larger than the original Ulthera, treatment can be performed more efficiently.

In addition, the improved resolution allows the skin layers to be seen clearly without noise.
This makes it possible to precisely target the layers beneath the skin, and it becomes easier to treat the desired layer with the optimal number of shots or intensity, which in turn leads to improved treatment results.
When I perform procedures, I place the greatest importance on checking each individual’s condition and providing customized treatment.
With Ulthera Prime, it is possible to precisely assess areas that are difficult to confirm with the existing device and provide custom care, which can increase satisfaction.
Ultrasound lifting now even takes pain into account.

Another change with the renewal to Ulthera Prime is reduced pain.
The original Ulthera has excellent results, but many people are concerned about the pain.
Ulthera Prime has a pain-reduction effect of about 20% to 30% compared with the original Ulthera.
Therefore, the procedure can be received more comfortably than with the original Ulthera.
In addition, because the operating time and the response speed when touching the screen are faster, and the treatment speed has improved, the time spent dealing with pain can also be shortened.
Longer-term effects through collagen regeneration

With Ulthera Prime, you can feel changes immediately after the procedure, but as time passes and collagen regenerates, the effect can be enhanced even further.
After 2 to 3 months, the best condition is reached at around 6 months.
In addition, this effect lasts for an average of more than 1 year.
Because the effect is maintained for a long time, many people feel satisfied with it.
Recently, Merz has stopped providing authentic product stickers, so customers have been asking a lot about genuine devices and genuine tips. Therefore, I will also explain how to check authenticity during the procedure.

This can be checked through the part marked in yellow in the image above.
If a genuine tip is not used, the number in the marked area above does not change.
Therefore, checking that part during the procedure allows you to proceed with peace of mind.
For patients who undergo the procedure under sedation, we take a photo during the treatment to show that part has changed, so they can receive the procedure with reassurance.
Ulthera Prime focuses only on the target layer, and the results change.
Ulthera Prime can be expected to provide excellent lifting effects with its improved performance, but there are certainly people who can expect satisfying results and others who are disappointed by results that differ from what they expected.
Improved performance does not automatically guarantee good results.

Just as important as having well-equipped devices is the skill of the medical staff.
To achieve the expected results, they must accurately diagnose each person’s skin condition, suggest the appropriate treatment direction and number of shots, and design the treatment to suit the face.
At Lifton Dermatology, our experienced medical team carries out custom design suited to each individual’s skin condition, and through precise treatment based on skilled technique, you can naturally achieve the results you were hoping for.
